During some recent testing I had several 5 shot groups under 1" at 100 meters with a stock T3 Varmint Stainless (24") in 308. These were shot from a rest using hand loads made with Berger 175 grain OTM bullets; groups with hunting ammunition were quite a bit bigger. The T3 was straight from the box with a Mark 4 3-10x40 scope mounted using Tikka OptiLock rings and bases
Under the same conditions and with the same ammunition I was shooting slightly smaller groups from a rifle that started out as a Remington SPS Tactical (20") in 308, but this was definitely a project gun with Jewel trigger, AICS stock, bedding, Mark 4 4.5-14x50 scope in Badger tactical rings and base, etc.
So in my experience the Remington is a neat project gun but the T3 was almost as good with no parts replaced or work done, and with less expensive bases and rings.
I haven't tried the same load in my Savage 110FPL but it is the pre-AccuTrigger version so not really comparable to what you would get from Savage today.
