As stated the Rem. 8/81 are awkward and heavy to some, but of all the 35 Rem. chambered rifles I've had my old Mod. 8 is by far the most accurate and I don't know why. I have had a Mod. 141, a Mod. 760, and a beautiful Marlin 336 all 35s, but the old Mod. 8 will shoot rings around them.
It doesn't get used much anymore, probably a couple times in deer season if I'm walking around in the bush, but its still as accurate and dependable as ever. At timber hunting distances that 200 gr. round nose slug is hard to beat as is that quick second shot if needed....
