Brownell is good, another one to look at (where I got parts/kits) is Fusion, also USA.....

Cutting the spring helped a little (couldn't bend the tine back through). The lapping compound was definitely the best improvement although cleaning it out was a pain. I then finished the sanded areas with polish. The slide runs significantly smoother. The only thing I cannot do is smooth the transition to the disconnector. I slowly release the slide forward, the slide can be held back by disconnector.

Still after dumping +/-12 hours into the gun sanding and polishing all the stock parts I have a fairly good trigger pull and hammer break. Not bad for a guy with no gunsmithing experience and digging pages and pages of internet guides and advice. I think I'm going to order replacement parts from Brownell and shoot some more, once the parts arrive, I'll try some more modifications on the stock parts in case I break any.

One thing to add. I have only one problem after the modifications so far. For only ONE shot, try as I might to pull the trigger the hammer won't fall. Checked both safeties, still won't fire. After going through PROVE and reloading the mag; it went off without a hitch at all for the rest of the time at the range. Other than that, no other problems.

You sound like you've bought from them before. How much fitting is required for the Fusion tigger parts? Drop-in, light sanding, heavy filing?

Probably going to pick up a trigger kit + beavertail grip safety

I did the same set up with an all Wilson Combat parts from Brownells and the difference in price isn't too much. All that's left in the deliberation is tolerances and shipping fees between the two.

Is there any good seller of 1911 parts and accessories in Canada, or it's still cheaper to order from USA with the additionnal shipping and possible broker fees and customs taxes?
And between all the parts manufacturers, which is the best bang for the bucks? wilson combat, ed brown, baer...
Is DLASK any good?

If canpar is on time, I should get mine friday. All that's left to do is sell the ammos, I already have a 900 rounds of .45acp at home!
Anyone wants them?

So, you are admittedly running out of ammo, and you want to sell some? I don't get it.
Still, I'd be interested, if I knew where you were.
Dlask makes nice stuff.
Small orders from US sent USPS don't incur any excess charges. Avoid FedEx and UPS though.

I'm not running out of ammo, I already have 900 that I bought locally not long ago, before I decided to purchase the package, so I will have 1900 rounds total, and I don't need that much, since I will be reloading those I already have once I will have shot them.
So that's why I will sell the norinco ammo. The 1911 deal with ammo was too good to pass, so I bought it and will sell the ammo separately.

I also plan on purchasing another 1911 to customize it, so if anyone wants to join me in the purchase and buy the ammunitions that comes with the package deal, your welcome!

I live in Quebec city, Quebec.

Western Gun Parts, Edmonton.

I bought from both.
Brownell: guaranteed import taxes (they ship UPS or USPS with a big sign on the outside "For customs".
Fusion: USPS low key... no import paid.

The trigger needed a little filing on the side, trigger bow was fine.
beavertail needed some modification to fit the frame (normal with almost all beavertails)
I liked the Fusion parts, bought some springs and my Norinco is down to about 5lbs....
Good Luck!!

Why don't you just shoot the ammo? Is it a matter of recouping some of the money? If not, the brass is reloadable and if you think it's more then you need give it away or sell it after you've shot it...

Yes, it's about the money, and if I want to buy a second 1911 to customize it, I need to sell the ammunition to help pay for the other one. Also, if I buy a second package, I'll have 2000 norinco rounds + the other 900 I already have, and I won't be shooting that much anytime soon!

I bought the package to have a 170$ 1911 once the ammo cost is deducted, contrary to those who bought it to get the ammo and resell the gun.

By the way, if someone bought the package and wants to get rid of his 1911 and keep the ammo, send me a PM!:D

I finally received my 1911 after some mix-up with Canpar.
I spent the evening cleaning it, striped it down to the last part, removed the cosmoline and oil it all up. Those norinco are quite greasy from the factory!
I replaced the cracked grips with some military unissued vietnam war grips, and it looks awesome, especially without those made in china markings, it could almost pass as an old Colt! It also came with some free black rubber grips, and other goodies, thanks Canadaammo!!!
I also went to my local gun shop to pick up my T97NSR, and I hope to shoot both this week, kind of a chinese family reunion at the range!
These are my first norincos, let's hope they will shoot as nice as the look!

Let us know what failures you have with the T97NSR? And after how many rounds?

I hope you are joking!!
From what I read, it seemed like a reliable rifle, have I miss something in the last week?
what can I expect, and what do I have to look for?
I hope it will be alright

Can't wait to see mine. I just put an order through for one this afternoon. Will be my first handgun. Look forward to getting it all cleaned up.

You'll be just fine. Some people dislike Norinco's because they shoot better than their high-end equipment.;)
