Shorten PAL Approval Times

Just received my RPAL today. 78 days total from mail out to license in hand. Now I can go pay for my kimber custom carry crimson trace 1911. As well as a glock 22. .40 s&w. That I had on hold. Now need to join a club. Here goes another couple of months. Lol

Called in and did my interview. Now I'm driving over to my reference's office and getting him to call in and do his interview! Then onto the next guy :) Mission Time!
Application Received August 24th
Interviewed October 24th.
Hoping that its issued within a couple of days :)

Ok... So fyi, the Alberta CFO will not give you your license # over the phone. The nice lady said they never have been able to give the number over the phone either. Just so nobody wastes their time.

Which is BS since there is nothing against the law in giving you your # over the phone. It's just more stupidity from a CFO

You can kinda see their point though, they give you the number, you go to Joe'sGuns dot com, rifle shows up next day. Suddenly a knock on the door, it's a cop, we have a report of a firearm on premises, can I see your license? Umm, uhhh, can, can you come back in a few days, it's in the mail?

lol

No I disagree.. since you do not have to have your license on you when the firearm is in storage. And any cop can easily confirm your PAL/RPAL via the # alone. Once again it's just BS from a CFO which is what they are infamous for.

Good to know, thanks!

True but same goes for so many things....drivers license, proof of insurance and ownership etc. Those could also be easily confirmed online, yet you'll be fined if you can't produce them on demand while driving.

I know I know, using BS to justify more BS. :)

Proof of insurance and ownership yes.. but most cops will give you 24hrs to produce it. Hence why I keep a copy of both with each vehicle (and NOT the original so it cannot easily be used for theft of said vehicle etc)

DL is not true.. so long as you can produce the # (which I have memorized in case I ever forget my wallet).

PAL/RPAL however must be with you when transporting / using but not when in storage. Otherwise what about if you are not home with your firearms? LOL

Registration of any restricted/prohibs though has to be in hand also when transporting / using.. but does not need to be stored with them.
(A copy is valid.. and I just made a copy of mine.. laminated them and keep a copy in my case etc and the originals stored elsewhere.)

and yes.. BS is what the CFO's are.. esp that ####### wyatt

PS: FYI: Also the common "myth" that it is illegal to keep your old insurance slips in the car is FALSE!! They are not illegal in any way and are not "forgeries" contrary to what some foolishly believe. Contrary to an old DL.. which must legally be "destroyed" when a new one is issued. For those that wish to keep their old DL simply use scissors and snip off a corner the same as they do to old/expired passports and legally it is "destroyed".

I have worse.. moron ##### here assumed I was firing my gun(s) off where I live due to fireworks... (not mine.. I was the one stopping the morons using them since they were pointed right at another building and are illegal to use here not to mention unsafe w/that sort of stupidity) suffice to say she has been TOLD in spades.

Ontario won't give it over the phone either. I just tried.

RPAL Application received - Sept 19th.
Oct 25th - License issued.

Quick turnaround! I'm impressed!

OK just an update... CFC received my application on Oct 2nd (based on Canada Post tracking number), and it is not yet appearing online, nor have they cashed my cheque. I just received my stamped test results in the mail from the Ontario CFO last week, so what should I do? Should I fax them in now? Or should I wait until I hear from them and get my application online first? Also, has anyone here faxed in their test results before? I am looking for the fax number, and don't want to use the wrong one. Thanks for all the support guys, I am really anxious to get approved!
