GSG Drum Mag Recall?

If the "grey market'' mags were stolen and then sold it would be a different story.

Instead, GSG SOLD the mags to another importer who then distributed them to Canadians.

Seems way more like sour grapes to me. Even after reading your reply, BL.

Who said gsg sold them to another importer? It is possible the other importer bypassed gsg all together, say going to the US and buying them third hand.

GSG did not "Sell" these magazines to another importer. These magazines were imported through a third party.

Blueline, what makes your mag more canadian compliant? Is it just a labeling/packaging thing or is it physically different than the other ones.

I'm still not happy about this. I can understand your rational, but the way this seems to have been handled leaves way to many people dangling on a string for no good reason it would seem.

Aside from that +1 for getting your website back up. WTF with the GSG 522 MP 5's ? Is there something we should know about ?

The funniest part is that GSG and Blueline actually think that anyone is gonna return the original mags!

If they work and the only issue is the seemingly Butthurt dealer, I wouldn't be returning them thats for sure.

As far as the RCMP is concerned they can go F*(& themselves IMHO.

I like this. Wish I'd bought a mag before.

Semantics. If GSG thought these were good enough to sell to the third party, (again) what is the difference with the CDN ones? Or just the fact that you are losing sales?

As you know from our post, RCMP has brought into question original design's advertised “universal use” which, according to them, implicates possibility of use in Ruger Charger. They also mentioned likelihood of magazine use in 1911 .22 cal pistols with a simple change of commercially available magazine head. In our telephone conversation they clearly noted that they are not giving us green light for this magazine import.

What could we do? Ignore RCMP, bring them anyways and deal with legal and financial consequences? I don’t think so!

We instead hired a lawyer to deal with this. He did his research and contacted RCMP with his findings. The engineers at GSG then designed a brand new magazine, which now meets all of the Canadian legal requirements and comply with RCMP requests.

1. Unlike original design, the Canadian Model of the GSG Ruger 10/22 Drum Magazine was designed, manufactured, tested, marked and advertised exclusively for the Ruger 10/22 rifle ONLY. Therefore, it meets all legal requirements for import and sale in Canada!!!

2. It has different internal design, which you will be able to compare once we bring them to Canada

3. Magazine head now has different shape and is marked “for Ruger 10/22 rifle only”

4. Magazine head is permanently attached and cannot be exchanged with magazine head which could be used in 1911 family of pistols

Thank you

When the "new proper" Canadian mags arrive, they will surely be compared to the "grey market" mags that are here already. Someone will have both side by side to compare. If there is no difference what so ever between the mags, then I guess that will explain exactly what's going on here.

I agree! We don’t mind doing that for you and posting pics in our forum. You can also look into our lawyers finding https://www.dropbox.com/s/c6eckdtina... Opinion.pdf and see posted pic’s of permanently attached magazine head.

Also, please go to http://laws-lois.justice.gc.ca/eng/regulations/sor-98-462/ and pay attention to wording. As per manufacturers statement Canadian magazine was: designed, manufactured, tested, marked and advertised for use exclusively for Ruger 10/22 Rifle.

Thank you
