What makes you like it more?? I'm having such a hard time deciding what one I want. I'm going to put one on layaway next week and damn this is a hard decision. I think the xcr looks better. Has better ergos is more accurate and is cheaper. I don't understand why the tavor is more popular.

Please, before you put down your hard earned cash try them out if you haven't already.
I own both and the Tavor +'s include :
Feels light because the weight is at the back
Next to no recoil
Very compact
I like the ergos (training) and the side mounted rail
Battle proven
-'s:
Multiple linkage in the trigger
Would prefer a M4 style mag release

You just have to shoot them both more - beg / borrow whatever and make it happen.

I assume your talking about the 180b? I admit I am basing my opinion on only one time out shooting one but that one wouldn't cycle well. And was not particularly accurate. But hey you got me it is simple. AK like in a way

I know I probably seem like an idiot. But I'm probably gonna go with the tavor. I always change my mind! the most important thing to me is reliability. And from what I've read the tavor is much more reliable.

For a guy like you, Tavor is the best bet at first...

But a 308 rifle is best all round...

You can probably tell that I do like the 180 platform, but I wouldn't delude myself in to thinking it is even in the same league as a quality AR15, Tavor or Swiss. The 180 is lightweight and reasonably accurate and reliable, but the design is antiquated in comparison to the others previously mentioned. Additionally, an AR15 in the same price range is of much better quality.

No delusion going on...but I guess I didn't like the bullpup configuration as I didn't enjoy the Tavor over the 180 (sold it)(which means I probably wouldn't want a T97 either), the HK SL8 didn't fit well (sold it), RA Expeditionary too unwieldy though beautiful to behold (sold it), Ruger Mini-14 target too heavy (sold it)...it all comes down to what I have enjoyed shooting the most off hand, and the 180 has fit the bill and done it for cheap. The handling of the 180 and the AR are very close, and if the AR was non restricted I might have one...but since I face jail time if I walk around with it, it is inferior to the 180 in a "best NR black rifle" thread.

Holy picky. I would much rather a tavor or xcr over a 180b.
 
You make a strong argument for the 180b! It's probly the lightest of the bunch, with a true rifle setup that ar shooters enjoy. I almost want to buy one. But I'm still saving for one of those factory non-restricted ACRs......

And this is the issue with these types of thread. Far too much weight is placed on personal opinion. What's best for you isn't best for me and probably isn't best for the OP. What can be done is list the technical specs and pros/cons, and allow each individual to weigh the value of each factor based on their own criteria.

I have not tried one of those yet...but that is over $3500 with the cost of a NR barrel, no?

yes but it gives people ideas and a path for them to concentrate and keep them all in one frame of thinking..

As a newbie, I enjoy threads like this to get the opinions of others wrapped up in 1 thread, for what may be my future gun.
