I think the reason many people are salivating over the 74s is they think there migh be an off chance that they arent completely welded, slotted, cut internally beyond any chance of repair. According to Marstar, the dewat process on these are quite severe ... Its on a thread somewhere here...

The AK74s won't be an easy return to up and running. People want them to have some cool wall art. While they can't shoot, they were still made in russia, will still have arsenal markings and still have some history to them. Can't shoot, ya that really sucks. Still an authentic AK.
The Russian Yunker Air rifles appear from time to time in Canada on the pellet gun forums and I've seen them in a surplus shop in town. Based on the AK-74M they are made up of mostly real gun parts including the receiver. These are legal in Canada (because they shoot a bb at under 500fps), but illegal in the USA because of the real receiver. From what I've read they are converted real steel training rifles to shoot 4.5mm copper bb's.

Yup. Izhmash "Yunker 2" and "Yunker 3" have "except" FRT classifications. Meaning not prohibited, restricted or non-restricted. The 2 looks like a krink, and the 3 looks like a side folder ak74.

The airsoft world don't want em, they don't want any other items such as Japanese model guns or other non airsoft items such as the yunker on site...I could say the same for Canadian nutz from what I have encountered....kill the replica and their maker (mom and pap shops such as Shoei). Shame as they were legal and are still in country but still fall on topic. The akm-74m yunker's were going for $500 a pop on the pellet gun forums from what i searched on the net...around 2010...Canadian forums. Cheaper than I bought my Yunker 2 ($600) eight/nine years ago....mine didn't even come with a side scope rail. Bought a rail but don't know where and who could mount it.
Those ads are placed by people who want to buy something RIGHT NOW, and who want to drive the price as high as possible before they buy. Waiting for someone to place a WTS ad doesn't fit in with this philosophy.

Personally the only way I'd go above $500 is for a old style dewat, #### and click with removable mag. Higher than that would have to be #### and click with removable mag and no visible detection of dewat. But that's just me, perhaps someone else holds a different value on these.
Well, the straight pull AKs are still vaporware. And dewats are not necessarily junk, I have some nice ones that were done back in the day and the level of deactivation is, shall we say, minimal. Still legal, and makes me feel that I still own some semblance of a real firearm.
Old spec dewats are broken arms and legs. Modern spec dewats like the one under discussion are quadriplegics in comas!
