Hi and thanks for looking!

I just bought the CQ-A and 1911 combo from Marstar. I was just cleaning the rifle now and had a hell of a time trying to get the hand guards off. I've used the C7 (Royal Canadian Navy), so I know they can be tough, but never experienced anything like this before!

After cleaning up all of the cosmoline, I got the entire rifle back together minus the hand guards. Just can't get them on!

So, I was wondering if this will get better over time? Or is there a way to adjust the slip ring spring?

Your thoughts?

And please don't mention anything about how funny an AR looks without it's hand guards......I've already been staring at it for hours! :)

I have also just bought a CQ-A and 1911 combo, I am just waiting for my ATT so I can take it shooting.
Before I do this, do I have to strip the hand guard off and clean that part of the rifle or is a general clean down and oiling enough?

I only cleaned the entire rifle (and 1911) since they were lightly covered in cosmoline. I wanted to get the handguards off so that I could wipe them down properly and remove as much of the water as possible. That was really the only reason for removing them. I hope your arrive soon! They look like they are going to be fun to shoot! :)

Or you can get this at your local Canadian Tire:

I got one of these at Canadian Tire and found that they helped a bit but it was still hard to remove the handguards off my norc. Being OCDish about cleaning and wanting an easier way to remove the handguards, I decided to invest into Brownell's handguard removal tool. WOW! What a difference! It's so eazy with the proper tool.
