WOOHOO! Issued! Now crossing my fingers on a range application
Congrats! Ditto here!
Tried to check the website to find out my license number, but although I used IE, it just won't go through.

I tried entering 00000000, but an error message came up:
There is no licence application in progress that matches your information entered. For further assistance, please contact the Canadian Firearms Program at 1-800-731-4000.
Oh well ... I guess I can wait a little bit longer.

sent application away for PAL Oct 3rd...credit card charged on Nov 11th...does this mean my application is approved if they charged my card ?...hopefully...and hopefully it comes before the holidays...

A lot of the time they charge the credit card a couple weeks before they finish entering the file. From my understanding it is the first thing they do, at least that was the case with my application and my wifes. Either way hopefully it won't be much longer. I would give them a call in a few days to see how it's going and to find out if there is any missing info.

phoned this morning...missing one piece of info I guess...she said thank you it is now complete and should be mailed soon...
So my dad's application has been with the RCMP since Aug 1st. his referances finally got contacted last week and he now is waiting for the license to be approved. When he called Tuesday this week they told him its with the CFO for Ontario.....sigh......how much longer does he have to wait????????? He Really wants to get out and shoot since all he has been able to do is place firearms on hold or ask me to pick them up and take him to the range for an hour.

Be sure to let all of the press know about this as well as the MP/MPP's etc esp Gary B!
The more cases such as this we can build evidence from the more pressure we can put on Harper to eliminate the farce of the FA.
Have you tried calling the ON CFO?
From this forum, I know that people rarely have any luck contacting them. I myself found everytime I called them it was always the answering machine. But they DO call you back if you leave a message.
When my application was with the ON CFO, I called them on 2 occasions, and left a message on each. They called me back everytime. And they approved my application during the last call.

True in part.. but not on all counts..
and the more important point is he/she should not have to do anything of the sort..
You do realize this is done this way intentionally don't you?
In most cases, I would agree with you, that he/she should not have to do anything of that sort, and that this is done this way intentionally.
However, in _my_ case, I have to respectfully disagree with you.
Here's why ...
1. When I spoke with the CFO they told me that they had to do some follow-up with me, otherwise my license would have been issued shortly after my last reference interview.
2. Why they needed to follow-up? Because both my reference answered a YES to one of the questions during their interviews. To be fair, that question did not appear on the application form, nor it was posed anytime during my interview. Nothing related to crime, traffic violations, domestic issues, nor mental sickness, but apparently the YES still raised _their_ flag. However, I personally appreciate the CFO doing their due diligence on me, for this particular case.
Disagreement aside, I can't wait for Sunday ... going to visually inspect a few ranges and hopefully can get into one as a member!

Fair enough.. but don't appreciate the CFO's BS since the questions they ask are beyond absurd to say the least. Believe me they do it intentionally as directed by wyatt and on up the chain. Remember the MOPS has flat out said handguns should be banned in Ont period.
I faxed my stamped results November 5th. The guy on the phone told me to wait 12 days until I call back, because that's how long its taking them to accept and process faxes right now. So I will be calling Monday morning to do my phone interview, and have my references call in. For anyone who has done the RPAL interview, do you have any tips on what questions they ask me and my references? I would at least like my references to be prepared to answer certain questions. Thanks!
The questions they ask are all along the lines of: Are you having mental health issues, been arrested, hit your wife/girlfriend/dog, are you a drunk or drug addict, how long have you known your co-sponsors, is your name really Walter White, why do you want a RPAL? Answer TARGET SHOOTING ( I started to give a long winded explanation on hobbies and retirement etc the nice woman on the line said "Oh you mean TARGET SHOOTING?" ahh ... yeah... Target Shooting... right!)
The long and the short of it is that you really see what they are getting at after the first few questions and you answer; No, ad nauseum. I was in my office on the phone going No, No, No..... so much I was getting looks from my co-worker like WTF???
Let your sponsors know exactly when you were released from the drug/rehab/mental hospital for hitting your wife/girlfriend/dog while on crack and vodka so you all have the same stories straight and you'll be OK!
Pretty similar to above, my references were also asked the last time they've seen me angry, or any aggression or violence from me. They may also ask you or your references if you've gone through any separation/divorce/break up recently (I was asked within 2 years, reference was asked 'recently'), or had a death of a family member or close friend...again "recently". Nothing big really. No drug or alcohol issues, no mental health issues, don't come across like a vigilante. You want an RPAL for target shooting/collecting, not home defense, revenge, or arming the militia.

Similar here... though they asked my one ref 'do you think he will be safe with a handgun" and got the reply of "the USAF trusted him with an F-15 capable far more destruction to say the least... and you're worried about a handgun???"
They stopped asking that reference any more questions LMAO
They can ask some absurd questions at times to say the least.

I agree.. I was in the room at the time and damn near spit out my drink laughing at it... I'd have loved to see the look on the woman's face on at the CFC
An F-15?? Awesome! I always wanted to be a pilot when I was a kid. One thing lead to another, it didn't happen.
So to compensate that, I used to play most of the Microprose PC game titles like F-15 etc. back in the days of EGA graphic cards.

I have logged hours in the T-38 / F-5 and F-15. Also a checkout in the F-18 as well.
As for old... I feel ancient today after being volentold to help w/a move yesterday... what a cluster#### from hell that was
