It's important that the bullet weight is 150 grains or less. Not much in the way of commercial 30.06 ammo with bullets that light but AE makes a Garand-specific ammo. A lot of Garand-o-philes reload. I've heard that there is (or was) Greek surplus 30.06 out there that was tailor-made for the M1, but all that stuff could very well have dried up along with the $150 Garands.

hell with condition. Working. For an affordable price. Restoring my Enfield has been fun and rewarding, I am sure an M1 would be just as much fun.

AE is painfully expensive. There's been no surplus for years - Greek and IMI 150g and 158g match was the last. If this is a legitimate prospect, then they'd better ship a couple of containers of surplus ammo with the rifles. They're not much fun sitting in the safe.

Surplus ought-six would probably create more profit for an importer than the rifles themselves. How many Garands are there already in Canada getting dusty waiting for something like that? I know that I'd be grabbing a crate or five.

Well Mr John, I never said that I did. I never made any comment on previous transactions or samples from Marstar. I was only commenting upon guns that are as of yet sight unseen. Given that nobody discussing this has actually seen these mysterious 87,000 Garands, lord knows what sort of storage conditions they were in, let alone how abused they were prior to storage. Until I get some feed back of that sort of condition they are actually in, and comparing that to the actual retail sticker price, I will continue to be skeptical. I hope I am pleasently surprised.

I assume you are talking about the situation in the US and them not allowing them back into the country. Yes, it is total BS!!!! Anything to annoy the legally responsible firearms owners by the powers the be down there. Like gangs are going to get hold of these heavy, long rifles to do drive by's with!!! It is actually a blessing to us though, as there is no way we were going to ever see these without that BS happening down there. I still really hope all of the rumours are true about them coming here. What a great Christmas present!!!!

In the absence of hard facts people will indulge their imaginations and we are now up to almost 200 highly speculative posts on this thread alone . Just who is/are the right dealer(s) and what are the facts on this please? I sense a bit of plumping and teasing the potential market here.
There is obviously a high level of interest in Garands as evidenced in the feeding frenzy over the stripped receivers. Folks who buy these with the idea of building up a rifle from parts are into a $1200-$1400 investment in parts alone, about the going rate for a Garand on the EE these days.

And wholesale trigger, who said on FB they are bringing in 6000 M1's, a mix of them in .30-06 and 7.62 NATO. No idea what any dealers will be charging price-wise.
I have a couple garands already, but if these DO come in, I will buy the best gun I can get for as low a price as I can get it for, probably more than one example, and will wait another decade until they are $1200+ guns again, then figure out what I want to do.
