Shorten PAL Approval Times

Mailed in my application and certification a while ago and I know they received on October 25th in miramichi.

It's supposed to appear online by this friday from what one of the officers told me.

The thing I really want to know is if I'll receive my PAL before christmas.

My PAL was in my hands 26 days after I put it in the mail... mind you I used to do a lot of crazy security stuff and when they saw my name and history they may have passed it due to that thinking I am going back into some kind of security field of work.

there is a good possibility that you will get it before then but don't count on it just as a rule of thumb...

You should get it in time. Turnaround for a PAL has been 45 days for the last few here on CGN

I have now been waiting 10 months for my restricted pal. My last call (about a week ago) the lady at the bc cfo's office said there was an " extreme backlog" at which point I asked if she was aware how long I had been waiting. She assured me that is not uncommon!?!? And that it should be done within three weeks ,if not call back!?!?! which I thought was completely nuts but stayed friendly and patient as I always do when dealing with this sort of thing. I asked if there was any missing information, anything that could be holding it up and she assured me there was nothing. Do they just drag licenses in instead of denying them? And if there is anything holding it up weather it be legal or references etc .. Would they have to tell me ?

Yes that's a problem! Demand (politely of course) to speak to the CFO who's desk your file is on. Don't take no for an answer, if they give you the backlog bull#### again ask (politely again of course) how they haven't issued a RPAL in 10 months because if there's a backlog you should be at the front of the line by now.

My progress as of today,

Oct. 4, CFSC, CRFSC completed.

Oct. 11, mailed app registered mail.

Oct. 16, filed complaint with canada post for late delivery.

Oct. 17, CFC received app. (Registered mail)

Oct. 28, I received stamped exam results (stamped on Oct 22.)

Oct. 29, called CFC, told to wait 4 weeks from the time they received app.

Nov. 5, called CFC, told 6 weeks.

Nov. 14, CC charged. I called, given fax #. (Initial processing) "you have been or will be contacted for additional info"

Nov. 15, faxed results.

Nov. 19, "initial processing completed, it is now in progress. Check the status again at a later date"

Thinking I'll call tomorrow or Thursday...

Yes, but keep in mind I had two delays on my end that would shave off 12 to 14 days approx, so not that bad really. I was prepared for a longer wait after hearing the horror stories here anyway.

I understand but that is not the point.. None of us should be happy with the average being anything more than the mandatory minimum as is required by law. To do otherwise is to feed into the BS of this system designed intentionally to frustrate and discourage anyone from having legal firearms.

Look at the NICS for a contrast... and it's night and day compared to the BS we have forced on us in Canada.

Roger that, the minimum is what,45 days?

OK, I thought the 28 day wait was an administrative 'hold' on all apps, after which they were then processed. More mis-information?

The application can be processed immediately upon arrival. The 28 days is just the date it can be approved. Proof the system is broken is the delays in some applications and quickness of others. A handful of people have theirs rubber stamped after 28 days while others (like. A recent reply) have had their application in for 10 months with no approval

Given the BS involved.. it should ALL be done long before the min waiting period.. so anything beyond is just more "hurry up and wait" crap etc etc..

Once again way past time C-68/17 was tossed into the trash bin for many many reasons and something enacted for a "Canadian 2nd" to prevent future abuses of this sort from being forced on US.
