Well I'll tell you some thing if I don't know what I'm talking about you take my mini 14 and you shoot it and if it shoots good then I don't know what I'm talking about but if you can't shoot it very well then guess what but I won't say the rest that's all ill say about the mini 14 your for that matter about any other gun on gun nuts . My 580 series mini-14 is marked .223 aswell. I love it. Eats any ammo and is surprisingly accurate.

My 182- would give me 8 MOA until I added a DIY strut. It now prefers 62 gr. loads & delivers sub 2MOA with the irons in a Butler Creek stock.

My 183- gives me 2 MOA with surplus 55 gr. and no mods... with the occasional flyer.

I'd say not too shabby with tired old eyes & a bit of luck.
