I just bought this... 1911 guys need your opinions. Good or bad.

I shoot a Colt Series 80 Gold Cup National Match.
It is not the same gun, but I believe you just bought yourself a fine 1911 that will give you many years of service and enjoyment. Very Nice Choice.
I run 8 round Chip McCormick Shooting Star Magazines in mine. I like having the extra round.

Lol, GG34...! You always buy semi's and then sell them off shortly after to fund another revolver. Remind me so much of my own gun purchasing habits ;)

Looks like a beauty though. My father has a very similar gun and absolutely loves it. Let us know how you like it when it comes in

If you already bought it then why ask about it? Do research first then buy then sell it if its not to your liking...

I'm a 1911 newbie myself. Just yesterday I was field stripping the girl for the first time.

... you know that part in the manual where they tell you " Recoil spring under pressure. Take care when removing."

Yeah. They mean it. That thing hits about mach 5.

Enjoy your new gun! Welcome to the club!

Colt makes a good 1911. I have a BNIB Colt Gold Cup Trophy in stainless. Only drawback is it's super hard to find original Colt parts. The only thing Colt Mfg. customer service will send you is a manual.

I know, i know..... Lol

So here's a comparison...

I bought a colt 1911.....did I do good?

"I banged this chick last night, did I do good"?

Congrats in the new addition. I'm sure you will be quite pleased. I bought a light weight commander 7 or 8 years ago and it is still one of my favorite shooters.

Thats nice, i may have to get the sights changed on mine to those low profile novaks.

I think you made a good choice..it is a Colt, it is old school with the long trigger and flat mainspring housing and from the side the sights look GI.
I look forward to a range report..the Commander length shouldn't be a problem in the accuracy department.

"...Colt makes a good 1911..." Colt makes 1911A1's. 1911's haven't been made since the 20's. In anu case, a 1991 isa bit different than either. It'll do, but it ain't a Series 70.
Shooter1of38 has a good point, but he's lying about banging the girl. snicker.
