Help with accessories for new AR

Well, before I go and start babbling about all the crap you can throw on your rifle, what do you intend to use it for? It's really no use sitting here telling you what you need if I don't know what you're gonna use it for.

I plan on using this at an indoor and outdoor range with the visualization of close and far quarters scenarios 10m to 100m+. In the end this will just be a toy to mess at the range between my ling range rifle and handgun.

Thanks T

Ditch the Sling and light and spend more on the others.

Ranges won't let you sling a loaded rifle and same go for 3/2 gun matches and you can't carry it around in the woods...so no need.

And unless you plan on using your AR for room clearing...you won't need a light either

hope that helps :)

Say what?

*EDIT* oh wait, I just figured out what you meant. Ignore me. :)

A good reddot, some irons and if you so desire a different grip and stock.

I think everyone is jumping the gun on advice,
I think you should really just shoot your rifle first , buy lots
of ammo. THEN see what you need.

In terms of magazines I highly recommend CAA 10 round mags.
If you decide you need them, for optics I would get an aimpoint red dot.
I have a geiselle ssa-e trigger and it's amazing but not a requirement, standard milspec trigger is fine.
I also have a battery assist device which makes the rifle more ambidextrous.

But again, shoot first, then see what you need. don't get ahead of yourself.

I think you should leave it alone, 90% of people who accessorize their AR's make them look horrendous.

Run it with stock set up and irons for the first few thousand rounds, get the hang of it utilizing iron sights and then get a red dot and maybe a fore grip after you've got the hang of it.

Thanks everyone. Was going to buy a mount and use my tRS-25 but in the end the mount would have been $25 shipped so I bought a PA Micro with the riser (1/3 co witness)for $59. I figured I would try it and see of I the distance works and then upgrade to an aimpoint or move onto a magnified scope. I also bought the magpul afg2 since it was on sale. Lastly I got the CAT AR tool to make cleaning a bit easier.

I will run this setup now and keep an eye out for a good deal on a light and sling. Hopefully someone can guide me to a good deal on ammo.

As for cleaning stuff do I need a bore guide?? Who has the the ar15 cleaning brushes with decent shipping?

Thanks T

Just to let you know that we've been cleaning C7/C8/AR15's for decades without CAT tools. just a cleaning kit with steal brushes, pipe cleaners, patches, some form of CLP, patch rod, and your GTG.

Get a hang of your iron sites before you use the Reddot. Reason being, Iron sites won't fail on you. A good sling hardly ever comes on sale, but keep an eye out on OneShotTactical or DS Tactical for the BFG vickers sling.

If you plan on doig your own maintenance on your rifle, I'd suggest looking into the Multitasker. It's fabulous. I picked up a lot of these as unit purchases, as well as stocking stuffers for the folks I mentor. Good stuff.

Thanks NZA any idea of a store with a good deal on the multitasker? Also I have been watching a ton of cleaning videos and 90% seem to be using barristol is that the standard for AR's or something?

Thanks T

There are lots of competitions where you need to sling your rifle, and lots of ranges allow you to sling a loaded rifle as well. It's similar to holstering a loaded pistol. You are giving bad advice. A good sling is an important part of your gear.
