The EE is a place I am not familiar with yet, but it would be the WORST place to post an ad like that CZ. Simply because this is a place where everyone knows the fair market value on a gun like that. The owner of the "$3000" rifle should just see what it does on Firearms Canada & hope he gets a sucker that doesn't know any better.

Actually, the EE is the best place to post if you want to maximize your resale value. CGN'rs are highly educated on firearms and 858's are going up in resale value as no others will be imported. CGN'rs know that. I'm sure they'll drop when the new 985's and Century Arms come in (if they are any good). The CZ858 had one issue - the Gremlin (in a small percentage of rifles), but is a very durable and loved rifle. When you take in account the FSN`s aren't around anymore, CSA`s seem to have rampant QC problems (roll the dice when you buy one)... the CZ's are quite popular.

I know for a fact that the rifle did not sell for even close to it's asking price, but did sell for more than a new one would have had a year ago. I'm sure this will be the trend from now on as the 858 has become a rifle that is no longer available to purchase new.

I am willing to sell my CZ858 for $4000 if anybody will pay for it.....I think I am going to advertise right now.

Oh yeah sure, lets just all become completely retarded and start advertising firearms for 10 times what they are worth just hoping someone will pay that price. Thats not alienating at all.

f:P:

Good luck bro. You'll probably get between $850-1000 depending on condition. Cdn Ed add a little. That's my estimate. The guy (subject of this thread) didn't get close to his asking price but did sell it in a couple hours (which I think was his intention).

Just you guys wait and see what im going to be asking for my brand new, unfired, non restricted wood stock cz858 when it goes up later this week. It will be close to niggles price. It will knot up some more panties around here. Thats for sure.

As for the guys complaning about 3000$ 858's, relax for crying out loud. Its a capalist market and the price is based on the rarity of the rifle and the fact they are no longer brought in. You guys sound like a bunch of communists bawling for the mods to delete the EE add because you dont like the selling price.

And when EVERY gun gets priced out of your budget because "that's what the last guy sold it for!" no one will be left here to hear you whine. I suppose if you were American you'd have been ok with the $200 bricks of .22 too because "that's capitalism"?

See the thing is I don't whine or complain when someone is selling something that is not in my budget. Hell I want a browning 1919 but I dont complain about the price that I cant afford due to their rarity when they show up on the EE. They sure as hell weren't 5000+ when they were made and sold here originally.

The market will bare what someone is willing to pay. It is not my responsibility to ensure "you" can afford what I sell. That is your job. My responsibility as a seller is to set a price someone out there can afford. It just doesn't have to be you.

Just like its not a sellers responsibility to ensure "I" can afford their 1919 they are selling for 5000$+. I cant afford it but I sure as hell havnt been priced out of any gun market yet as my gun locker and my ammo closet can attest to.

Its not a perfect system but it is what it is. Its been fun typing but I feel the need to go and write a complaint letter to porche becase I cant afford their cars. :)

^ Definitely has a point.

If you don't think the price is fair then by all means don't buy it. I would never in a million years pay 3k for a CZ858 even if it was the last one ever to be sold ever again. So im not going to buy it,problem solved.See what i did there?

Neither would I. Neither did the buyer of the sale in question.

What stupid choices ?

Really? You need it explained?
Someone advertising a rifle at 400% its retail price, knowing damn well he won't get that value, even after factoring in the rarity, lacks common sense. That is the definition of stupid. And since someone chose to do it, its a stupid choice.
