Strolled into my LGS today and strolled out with a henry lever action 22lr. Man, what a nice little rifle. Action is as slick as snot, no stupid safety (besides half ####), nice trigger, sights that are actually usable and were bang on right out of the box. Was in the woods plinking with it today and had a blast. Cycled everything (shorts and lr) without a hitch and seemed pretty accurate. A really fun little plinker.

I, too, am very impressed with these. Just picked up the basic model last month and had similiar results you did.

Great price too.

I picked up a Henry youth .22 for my daughter to use, its nice little lever.

One day I will let her shoot it, for now I'm having to much fun. :)

I've had one of these for a few years. It is a fun shooter, and will shoot anything. However, the finish is very weak, and can scratch easily, specifically in the receiver area. I stole some placemats off the wife, and place them on the wood shooting benches to prevent contact with the hard surface. In addition, if you use one of those "coated" cable locks, they will still gouge the wood with the metal parts that connect. Grab an old sock, cut off the top part, then slide it over the wood so it rests between the lever and the wood. Now the wood will be safe. Unfortunately, mine suffered terribly from these problems, especially when I let other people fire it.

I have the big loop carbine 16" .22. It is smooth and cycles good but the accuracy leaves something to be desired. Considering getting a big boy.

More Henry fans, excellent!!! I have a number of Henry lever action rifles and love them all... They are well made, smooth as silk and accurate... I have done a couple Brass Conversions and put Skinner Peeps and Lyman 17AUG globes with Lee Shaver inserts on most... Most fun you can have squeezing a trigger!

What do you mean by brass conversion? Thanks!

Hoytcannon what is your opinion of the golden boys are they worth the extra$ ? I had the base model but sold it because I didn't like the receiver paint.

I personally like the Frontier octagon model best of the rimfire offerings... it is a half pound lighter than the GB, and has the standard stock profile, which I and many others prefer over the GB stock which has more drop.

Having said this... the GB's are a very fine firearm, they are heavy, but the weight gives them a solid, serious firearm feel, and I find that it helps steady my off-hand shooting... the GB fit and finish is excellent.

The Brass conversions that I am referring to are the exchange of buttplate, receiver cover, lever and barrel band from the OEM factory offering of the H001T Frontier model to the "Brasslite" counterparts... IMO, you get the best model (Frontier) coupled with the best features of the GB.

Just picked up the Henry 30-30 and I think I will be giving their rimfires a good hard look. The rifle's action is incredibly slick right out of the box and the woodwork and general appearance put modern day Marlins to shame. Very happy with my first Henry product, and I love that it came with a rear peep from the factory. More like a ghost ring, really, but it does well at the ranges this thing is intended for.

Those Henry are just at the top of the food chain... JP.

My son has a Henry youth lever and I've got both the lever and slide action in .22 (octagonal barrels with Marbles sights). All three are excellent shooters, and put a grin on the face of anyone who picks them up. And as someone else stated, the option of running shorts is nice. IIRC 21 rds in the fullsize rifle: "Load on Sunday, shoot all week long."

I agree. The H001T is also my favourite model in 22lr. What would make it perfect (for me) is a shorter bbl (16"-18"). I found the 20" Octagon a little nose heavy.
Also, the H001T fit me better vs the GB. I just couldn't get a proper cheek weld on the GB.
I don't own a Lever (anymore) but looking at the H001L (16" Large loop) Carbine. I'll have give this model a go....

Went to my lgs today and held all the models i agree the frontier is the nicest of them all. I held the golden boy but could not get a good cheek weld at all! felt like i had to look over the rear sight. I almost bought the loop lever but when i picked it up the forend was loose reminding me why i sold my h001.

Need to hear more about these brass conversions!! that i would go for.
