Fn fal .308 semi-auto rifles available in canada for $175!

I hear Canadian Tire and Walmart will price match lol. Ahhhh the good old days when guns were cheap , mind you so were employers .

five bucks more for the lightweight! Back when All Canadians could be trusted with scary guns .
 
I was just a toddler in 62, but I was thinking that $175 would be a LOT back then.
Would that be a paycheck, or more?
 
GERRRRRRRRR I hate you

I remember shooting FN-FAL in Army Cadets. Second year of camp, fell in love with it. 3rd year army cadet camp, signed up for the 6 week rifle course where I could shoot this more. But nope that winter in between the mothers complained they did not like little Johny playing with fun toys, so it was removed form program. Instead spent 6 weeks shooting the no7 Lee Enfield with 22 conversion. and whats worse is that now that I am getting my PAL I find I can't own one. so GERRRRRRRR
 
I have one from that group in my collection, don't have the book though.
I think that one is a G series FN FAL, can't find a bayonet to fit, and I have a large collection of FN bayonets.
It came from an old friends estate, I remember him saying it came from Browning in Montreal.
I love the gun and I never got a chance to shoot it.

I know an old hand logger/ logger who was making about $2.75 an hour back then if the wood buyers would pay his boss! and for whatever reason the "companies" would pay about 2/3 to 3/4 of scaled value for a boom of logs. I asked why that was and he said it was that or you didn't get paid ... so yeah $175 was a lot.

Beautiful rifle there! If they are semi only from factory, are they still prohib? Are they prohib by model?

I remember shooting my buddies FN, sweet shooting rifle with very little recoil. Now we just sit in front of his safe talking about how stupid it is to have such a fine rifle and only being able to look at it and not shoot it!!!!

I miss mine, but I often wonder if everyone would covet one so highly were they legal and everyone had access to them. I would own one, just because. Would I shoot it more than my other battle rifles, perhaps. Bottom line, it is wrong that we don't have the choice or opportunity.
