Wow! These were on sale at Hougens in Whitehorse for150.00 on Black Friday. I bought one and stripped of the cosmoline and was so happy with the result I ran back and bought another one. Interestingly the second one was less pretty when cleaned up but ended up shooting a little bit better. Average around 4 MOA with pretty and 3 MOA with less pretty and Hornady SST ammo. Chinese surplus is a bit less precise, corrosive and 500.00 less per thousand rounds. It's Chinese for me! With the sights and 53 year old eyes this level of accuracy is fine by me. Wouldn't be surprised if 25 year old me could have shaved off an MOA.
I have started hating reloading.... very tedious to make 100 rounds. Now I can shoot 100 rounds for 15.00 and the 10 minutes of rifle cleaning the corrosive ammo out of all the bits and pieces beats the 2-3 hours of reloading any day. I also love the retro- Soviet cool. Big fan!
