T97 on sale $850

A year ago when the T97 was offered to dealers by NS there was a mad rush to place very large orders due to the perceived high interest of the consumers for a non restricted bull pup under $1000. We were "reasonable" in our pre order (which was still very large) and we were able to sell every one at $999 (we are currently sold out). I think the main reason for dealers selling at $850 is simply over stock of one model. I believe some dealers got a few hundred pieces and now are trying to get out from underneath this overstock situation. The next shipment of T97's coming in are going up in price and it would be very difficult to keep selling more at $850 as that is near cost. Time will tell. Phil.

Thanks for clearing that up Phil, it all seemed a bit strange to me, the 850 marker. But what you said makes perfect sense.

I agree - time will tell us a lot. Not only about the price though, but also about any quality related issues.
$850 seems really high and if this is a cost price...wow! Interesting to say at least. Thanks for letting us know.

No doubt, I should correct my post, as them costing the retailers that much makes no sense at all lol.

I personally dont understand peoples beef with the T97. as far as fit and finish go, the difference is very negligible to my Sabre AR. I haven't actually fired my T97 yet but I am excited to. I feel like only a small percentage of people who actually own T97s experience failures more than couple of times. There are some mags the gun doesnt like, and others it does like. Why not just use the mags that work well with it? Also i imagine failures its usually an ammo related issue anyways.

I'm not a hater or a fan. But most of the hate comes from the extremely poor ergos, the possibility of a barrel gouge,
And for people that already have a lot of mags that don't work it in would suck. The failures are not ammo related, from what I've read here its from certain mags sitting to low. But hey a nr bullpup that takes some AR mags for under a 1000. Can't really go wrong I think. Just not my cup of tea. Always happy with more variety!

well i personally feel like some people take ergonomics way to seriously. MAybe its just me, but this gun is basically to have fun with, not go to war with.

Well, the big selling point for me was that it could take the LAR-15 mags, when finding out some had problems with it, that was a big let down for me , I am gonna buy one, but only because the sweet mount T97.ca sells for it.

I dont think they will sell quite as well at a higher price. No reason for a price increase IMO (from a consumer standpoint)

i think a lot of people still have good luck with the lar-15 mags.

Mine had issues with the grey lar-15 mags sitting low but loves the black ones! A NR bullpup that can legally hold 10 rounds for under a grand, what's not to love. Its been reliable and a blast to shoot so far. The ergos everyone talks about are a non issue once you get used to the rifle........I have no regrets at all with mine.

Distributor claims cost from Norinco went up (especially if they are paid in US $). When the first shipment was sold out months before it hit Canada then it would be hard to convince NS to keep the old price or lower it (at wholesale). If in fact the new shipment has problems selling out then the old supply and demand thing kicks in. Not every consumer views CGN and many may be satisfied to pay a higher price to have the product in their hands at their local dealer...again time will tell. Phil.

This is exactly why I have said many times before that any pre-order list created for a rifle that is coming in but we have to wait for should be a paid pre-order list. Letting guys sign up for free means they sign up on 2 or 3 different lists then just cancel once the first one shows up. This creates false demand and the retailers over order and end up stuck with stock there is no demand for anymore.
The way P&D does it is the right way, you should have to pay to get on the list so they know your serious and they aren't ordering in stock for nothing.

Is the next shipment going to have any revisions? Better QC? Just wondering why the cost is going up.
