What Was your first deer shot with?

So far all my deer have been taken by bows, I can get them close to home, and its archery only season there. Last deer was a doe at 8 yards a few weeks ago.

444 Marlin, with the then only load of a 240 grain softpoint, took a whitetail doe through both lungs at about 40 yards back in Nova Scotia, ahhh the memories...

Remington 760 .30-06. Back of the head I think if I remember correctly - that was 30 odd some years ago ... or more. That gun accounted for a lot of deer before it left my possession. I know who owns it now and he still drops the odd whitetail or elk with it.

Did I answer this already?

Old bubbaed Ross straight bolt 303. Neck shot with iron sights at 60 yards.

Many moons ago with my grandfathers Savage 99 in 250/3000. Actually shot a few with that rifle and to this day I haven't come across anything better for deer in that area.
Funny thing is though, I never actually owned anything myself in that calibre. Might have to remedy that with maybe a .250 Savage AI.

Marlin Glenfield 30A in 30-30 Win. Shot a 4-pointer through both lungs with 1 round of Federal 170 gr. Power Shok. Bullet went in between 2 ribs and out between 2 ribs. I lost maybe 2 ounces of meat. Butcher I took it to laughed and said he never seen such a cleanly killed deer. It was a 25 yard shot from a poorly constructed tree stand. Never again will I see such a perfect broadside shot....
