Russians are taking over my safe... 2 sks'.. 3 svt 40's.. '39 tt33.. 6 mosins..

my m38 arrives xmas eve apparently so ill be putting it under the tree.. i have a feeling the other presents i get might not be so fondled once i open it... hope the other gift givers dont get jealous of how much i love my own gift lol.

The only "bad news" is with the lovely Russian Shellac finish you are going to need to strip it all down and re-finish.

Just a little more work.
yes thank you , I was planning to strip it down , sand, stain and varnish . as I have done with 2 other 91/30 mosins I have ;they came out looking great. I just thought maybe after removing the cosmoline , the BLO scrub was some secret/magic oil recipe lol. that would make the rifle look as nice as the ones posted in the pictures. I guess good old elbow grease is the answer ; for a nice result. THANK YOU FOR THE RESPONSE!!!

Sounds like a nice way to cut the rifle's value in half. But have at 'er. Makes the rest of them more valuable.

those are some neat markings!!! I have never seen them in a mosin sold in Canada. do you know what the stamp means???
say did you re-blue the m-38????(im guessing not , because of that engraving) ist a very nice and dark finish on the metal!!!
also how is the rifling and bore look like??? thick strong groves, shinny bore???
sorry for all the questions!!! but im pretty excited about getting my m-38. I never thought I get one for that price lol. and I would never pay $625 for one either

I don't plan to sell this one , in my lifetime . lol . not concerned with value , economics or profit . this m-38 is a keeper . ill make it look as nice as I can and enjoy it because its mine.

Molot is a firearms manufacturer in Russia that exports milsurp rifles. The big question on US forums whether or not Molot is refurbishing, repairing, building them or are they simply stamping / reclassifying them as hunting rifles to get around the Russian Export embargo. Seems to be working, as a lot of them are turning up in the US. Mosins especially.

That is about par for the course for %50 of mosin imports & most of the vz24 had handguard repairs.

Tradex shouldnt advertise as being excellent condition if thats the case. This is clearly not excellent condition. They sell stand alone excellent condition mosins for $169. I have sent an email.

All week long my tracking has said that it's at the postal facility in Hawkesbury. No update since the 16th and it's supposedly due today....somehow think it'll be after Xmas.....
