XCR , to buy or not to buy?

What I am curious of, is with all the horror stories of reliability in the early models, does anyone have experience with the newer models(Kinks worked out supposedly), or both , that they can share? Negative or positive feed back welcomed. Thanks guys. Getting the 5.56

Loved them, I never had a problem with the newer version (never had an older version). The nose was just a bit heavy for fun bushwacking so I went to a a tavor, but I'd buy another in a heartbeat. You might want to get a light barrel takes about a pound off the nose.
 
Yes! Great rifle, get the new ones. Trigger pull is crisp for what you get, accurate with good loads. I just shoot AE ball ammo and getting 2 inches at 100 m and I'm not that great a shot. Goes bang everytime. Ejects hard too! The FAST stock is good but try them out first especially if you have a long reach as you may feel a bit cramped. Problem is they are a bit heavy and long for lugging around in the woods especially if you tech one out with Eotechs, fore ends and light. Gets up to about 13 lbs loaded. Also get a good sling to distribute the load. Robarms seems to have the bugs worked out on the newer improved models and there seems to be a more constant supply coming into the country now. Never had to deal with their infamous customer service yet so can't speak to that but I guess it's a good thing since I have nothing to complain about yet! Don't buy one if you want precision AR accuracy but other than that they seem to be good rifles. I've never owned one but have shot many of them and they were all reliable and fun to shoot.
 
My XCR-L is a great shooter and loads of fun. Very reliable after 5000 rounds with no issues. The XCR-L is an awesome rifle. If I want to shoot precision targets, I pull out my 5R or T3.
 
I am 6'3 so I need a decent length of pull, thats something I will check out when I actually hold one again. As for precision AR accuracy, I do not expect that, just realized that for the same price for one, I can get a non restricted XCR , the AR can go on the backburner :D I have rifles that can reach out and touch.

As far as joining the XCR forum, thats something I would do after owning the rifle, I find gun specific forums never to be the best when finding out if something is not worth the cash (I find they are usually filled with fans of the firearm in question)

The ACR is 400 dollars more and not even here yet, expected to be here in 6 months.... Expected :p

I've had mine now for the better part of a year and the only issue I had was my first bolt catch was one of the defective ones that wore out after only a few mags. Wolverine sent me a new bolt catch and the rifle has been flawless ever since. My only recommendation is that you develop a brass catching method if you want to reload, the things spits the brass way out there even on the lowest gas setting.

The ACR can be picked up used for a little over $2000 and a non restricted barrel can be had for $500 and up depending which route you want to go. It is then eligible to be verified and reclassified as non restricted.
I personally think the ACR is a better platform but that's just me, lots of guys are very happy with their XCR's and I haven't heard of many problems with the newer models.

Let me rephrase then "A NEW ACR is 400 more then a new XCR" Plus, I hate buying guns used unless they are in a local store so I can actually look at them , if I am going to spend over 2000 dollars on a gun, I want to be able to return it if something goes wrong and want a guarantee of what I am getting(There are only two sites I would even order new guns in that price range from). Also, changing the barrels myself and going through the trouble of getting it reclassified (I have no idea how its actually done) Does not sound like a lot of fun to me lol. I think the ACR looks better, but I have never held one, if I buy used, then get the barrel, I am just hoping that I like how it feels in the end. And if I dont? tough #### for me. In the future when they are here in that configuration, I will look into them though, not bashing your suggestion, just as of right now, the question really is, is the XCR worth it or not, problem wise. What problems did you hear of with the new XCR's?

The DD is going to be bought no matter what :D The XCR is now most likely going to be bought too. And yeah , probably see an ACR in my future lol. We will just have to see.

Still is by far my favorite rifle. I still get home home work somedays and just fondle her or an hour or two. You wont regret it.

Edit- and oh ya, I've has zero problems with mine, broke it in on gas setting 1 as it seems their machining is getting better at RA. I also bought the parts kit from wolverine just for convienience if anything ever does break.
 
To me the xcr is not worth it, I have shot a few and the accuracy is not there for a rifle in that price range. The way the barrel is retained on an xcr is why its accuracy is so.

For less money you are better off with and SL8 IMO, Then if mags are a worry, buy the G36 Pmags from Irunguns with the money you saved.
