well i shoot a win model 70 in 375 H&H and a rugger no1 in 303 british wife has a new fn win model 94 in 30-30

I have been shooting yotes with the 375 and 303 but kinda fancy a rugger hawk eye or another model 70 in 257 roberts,2506, or even a 260 to use as a multi purpose varmint/ deer gun any opinions are welcome I kinda like the idea of the 257 Robert's as I have 3 kids that will be shooting deer soon enough.

The 6.5x55mm (Swedish Mauser) can be had cheaply at Trade Ex. They have M96 sporters for approx $250.00. If you reload, even better. Components are easily found. Accurate, low pressure and low recoil round. This caliber is very shooter friendly.

I'd go with a 6.5... either .260 or 6.5X55 or 6.5 Creedmore or 6.5X.284... any will do exactly what you are looking for.

243 or 6.5mm type.. hell, I'd probably just get a 7mm08 and be done with it.

I use a Marlin 30-30 for everything and it is something I would use for both yotes and deer. Love my rifle. But that's just me.

Flat out 6.5 x 55 hand loads
this gun loaded correct is a monster killing machine
great penitrating power 3 white tail and 1 elk this year
all had hard ball size exit wounds
My 6.5 way built as a long range elk gun and
is grouping 5 shot at .5 of an inch at 300 yards
no recoil with 140 garingers moving at 2950 fps
im getting 1000 ft lbs at 1000 yards
good for a deer at 1000 yards and a elk at 600
