Trade Ex M38

there will be a groove on the right side where the M44 bayonet would fold into

That m38 stock pictured also looks like an very early stock 39 perhaps? because of no thumb/finger groove before first barrel band.

I could be mistaken though, just from what I was reading.

Well got my five pack, over all really happy! The 91/30 is the worst to say it got ALOT of history is a understatement! Its the worst beat up mosin I seen! But I was plainning on selling it unless it was a very good condition hex receiver. The vz24 well its not matching and missing the ammo pouch ( bummer) and has a uper handgard crack repair but part from that I would say its in real good condition.

the 2 sks are in as new! I am very happy.

The m38 has a m44 stock it has a bit of "history" the metal seems to have ben painted flat black???? but I would say is in good shape. I am happy

rally guy... post pics... I am curious about your definition of "history" :)

An ugly Mosin can still shoot very well. Regarding vz24... you can buy a better handguard... just search around.

I will tomorrow as I am not home tonight, the handgard is not in to bad of a shape its got 3/4 inch crack with a ugly repair.

Thanks for this. I was wondering about the stocks. Mine has an M38 stock but since she is a beauty I got nothing to complain about as far as cosmetics go.

You are very lucky, I think most of the M38's have M44 stocks from what I have been reading. Mine is a M44 Stock but I have no problem with that at all...I love this Rifle I had her all apart today and gave it a good cleaning....Those Hand Guard rings are a bugger to get off and on though......lol

Mine has the M44 stock and import marks as well. The bore cleaned up good and the import marks
will soon disapear. I swapped out the trigger and sear to Polish units and re-touched the muzzle crown.
I will soon bed the action & free-float the barrel to test for accuracy with target loads.

The stocks will get a nice non-glare finish and the bolt has already been slicked up.
These are neat little rifles to tinker on.:)
