Before anyone tweaks out, this is just my opinion and things I found easy/difficult with this stock and its pros/cons.

So, it was safe dropped at my door. No problem it doesn't bother me but Hical I do believe in special requests was not to do that LOL CanPost. So I got it cut open, was packed id say pretty well !

Now we all know the normal procedure and how to take down an SKS and put it back together right ?

Well I did not watch ANY of the videos on how to install this, I figured it would be just like the rest.... Wrong haha, You need to install the firing pin and action then put the barrel and frame into the stock... Just a heads up, otherwise pretty simple same as usual. Now I found with my trigger assembly that it was MUCH harder to get in on the new stock then on the original. Took me a good 15 min before I said fine and got a soft mallet to bang it home (like the instructional video I have watched since installing the stock lol).

I found the knock out attachment hard to get in an out so I filed down (NOT MUCH) one side of the grip a little to make it easier to grip the knock out tab, goes in and out effortlessly now.

This stock fits VERY tight, it is very nice. almost like that is the original stock it is so snug.

Now for the life of me, I couldn't get the rifle to accept tapco 5/20 mags. It will not go in and seat properly and I cant figure out why... I spent and hour looking over, and trying to pop in and out mags. None of the 4 I have worked. So im stuck with the stock one for now...

I decided to go with the tapco gas cover because I already had it on another sks and didn't want to go through the hassle of trying to take off the gas tube cover lol.

so here is the finished project, I think it makes the rifle a bit heavier in the front end, even with the bayo not being on it... definitely changes up the balance and weight.

Out of all three stocks I've tried, the ATI, Tapco and now the AA... I would have to put AA on top by a long shot, everything is tight and sturdy. Well planned and thought out. It is by far the best feeling in your hand... I would recommend before you install to watch how to install... Also a little bitter my detach mags don't want to fit. over all experience with it 8/10... Only because a bayo cut out would be nice and because my mags don't work with it.

By far the best looking and feeling after market stock in my books. Love the cheek riser, will come in handy for anyone running optics, not really needed for me with just irons.

I dicked around with sks and aftermarket stuff for awhile but then I learned about the cz858. Now the sks wears her factory wood stock and after selling all the tapco mags and stuff the price of the cz wasn't much of an obstacle.

For me I was just trying to make the sks do things it wasn't designed to do (ie. the detatchable mags and what not) and found out I just wasn't happy with the results but to each his own. It does look good.

I don't see the point of altering the mag on an SKS but the ergonomics of a pistol grip and an adjustable stock make sense.

Yea I wont be doing anything further to the stock other then maybe the black vented gas cover.

Wood is nice, but I cant blast it with chems to clean.... well I can just have to be carefull.. Also the wood dings, scratches dents ect... I like the rifle the way it is now.

It does look good, if I could get a good deal on a NR CZ then I might get one... I don't shoot on a range much so I try to stay away from R rifles... Sadly I cant with handguns but hey.

This gun is just a cool looking fun plinker for my girl and friends to play with and try out... Usually gets a lot of people into shooting. Also that way they don't have to touch my nice guns lol.

Thanks for the review, just file the top front corners on the detachable mags till they fit the gun, you will see where the plastic is scraped. They will install smoothly after that!

Thing is a CZ858 is hard to find these days.

thanks ! You guys allways have fast responses ! Might put a for grip on it !

File down the front corners of the duck bill part ? I put them in and out, couldn't see any noticeable markings... Just that they wouldn't fit lol.

Are you trying to insert the mags on a closed bolt? I noticed the pro mag 5/30 mags would not fully seat until I locked the bolt back which kinda sucks sticking your finger in the action to lock it back but whatever. If you do decide to install the upper hand guard be prepared for a fight. Lol. Not only was there a fair bit of filling and sanding to get it to fit the gas tube, it needed a fair bit of sanding to get it to fit against the stock to allow the lock down lever to engage. Just when you think you're good, you'll notice the vent holes are now misaligned. Yup, chainsaw file to the rescue! Looks great though. All in all, loving this stock!

First of all, I love your kitchen table, very nice. I had the same problem with my Tapco mag and a little filling on the front of the mag corners, not the duck bill and now it pops in and out super easy as long as the bolt is locked open. I did a little on the back as well, about the same spot. I pushed my mag in and out a bunch of times to see where it was binding and there was a little bit of plastic starting to peal, so I knew where to file.

My SKS is a russian Tula 1952. I'm assuming that the Tapco mags fit the Chinese SKS easier, My Russian has more metal than the Chinese one I bought over a decade ago.

I also had to file down the upper hand guard/gas tube cover to allow it to sit low enough to turn the locking switch to the down position. A bit of work but I'm super happy with how it turned out.

Not the duckbill, the front top corners, near the chamber!

Don't listen to the haters, put as much black on it as possible!!

Can't justify detachable mags??

I can, it's called a fast trigger finger, bet you i can clear a stopage and clear a fte or ftf quicker than you can using stripperclips!!!

It's all about the fun, and fun as we all know, comes in evil black looking packages that include detachable magazines....

All to ya, bud!

Thanks! I got 3 outa 4 mags running flawlessly... One no matter how much I file it down, the bolt wont seat right. Doesn't close all the way even though the mag fits.. Has anyone had experience with the metal 5/30 mags ?

But you don't get fte's or fte's with stripper clips

I had 10 tapco mags a few years ago, they all worked good at first but after awhile every time a popped in a fresh mag too "fast" the top round would pop out of the mag, then if I released the bolt it would cause a double feed. So I sold all the plastic and this is how my sks sits now:

I like that rack ^

Back on topic, had it out yesterday. Running great ! Has a bit more slap to it then the original stock, I might put black felt or something along the cheek riser.

Great to shoot though !
