Shorten PAL Approval Times

Mailed October 23rd 2013

Application received October 25th 2013

Processing....Called a few times and they said it might take up to 3 months because hunting season is winding down, they told me its with the CFO of Ontario and that they can't do anything until the CFO approves it.

I wouldn't have a problem if this was a free service but I already paid 60 bucks for this license and I deserve some real service here or a refund, it's not like they're doing me a favor giving me this license. When you pay for something you don't sit around and take your time, you get off your @** and move paperwork.

how does a guy go abouts challenging the PAL? what steps would you take.

Study the material for RPAL etc.. find a local instructor.. book a time to challenge the tests.. and do everyone a favor and do both PAL and RPAL at the same time. Not only does that make yet another RPAL holder.. it's also easier since a large % of the RPAL test is duplication of the PAL test..

You can get the PDF versions of the "guides" here for free:

np at all.

A hint for you as well remember and memorize these things since they are on all tests (iirc):

ACTS
PROVE
Use of FFFFg powder

Also:

Interchangeability of caliber's. 38 Special in a .357 works but not the opposite.
Smaller the # for shotguns the larger guage except .410 bore (technically not guage)
the three lengths of shot shells.

There are other things of course (and I am NOT an instructor) but give the books a through read through at least once especially if you are brand new and have no previous training.
(I was already trained so it was simple memorization of a few things and the rest was already second nature)

Call the CFO, get transferred to the person in charge of my license, she tells me she needs a couple of minutes to check some details out and she'll call me back in 15 minutes, I give her my number and hang up.

I wait an hour and a half and no phone call, so then I call back twice and both times when they transfer me to her extension the line is dead.

I mean really?

Never wait for them to call you back.. just say "that's ok I'll hold while you check"
