Need Advice on IPSC Production Division Pistol

I have CZ75 shadow and glock 17. Like them both but will start using glock more just because everybody else is using shadows. :)

Remember that there's a reason why everybody and their grandmother runs a Shadow... Not saying you won't be kickin' my butt with that Barbie of yours, but I will be catching up sooner

I'm not new to shooting...I'm used to the Sig P229 in 40cal S&W. Thanks for the info guys. I have been looking into the CZ Shadowline and will probably go with that. Next question, where is the best place online to shop for a competition shooting belt, or which is the best belt/holster to buy for the CZ?

Good choice. I'd get the belt/holster/pouches from Doubletap.. Can't go wrong dealing with Joshko. Belt either CR Speed or DAA (heard that DAA is stiffer but haven't tried mine, keeping it as a spare for now), holster - you can either go with Bladetech in the $80 ballpark or Ghost for about twice the price. Haven't noticed guys experienced or new drawing any faster from their Ghosts (and we've been timing each other), so it's up to you. DAA racer pouches, I'd get at least 4 plus a magnet, probably better to have 5-6 plus a magnet. I'm making do with 4 plus a double pouch for my stripper mag and the first mag that I load since I broke the magnet (got too close to the safe, it stuck, broke apart trying to get it un-stuck lol).

Edit: Joshko seems to still have a DAA belt and 4 pouches on special for $200.. Go with that and get at least 1 or 2 more plus a magnet. Then you can pick the holster and you're done. https://www.doubletapsports.com/
Edit #2: If you don't already have a mag loader, GET ONE. Your fingers will thank you. Best $30 I ever spent

I concur. The Shadow ruined PD and the diversity of pistols that were seen in the early days of the division.

I don't think it ruined anything. In any competitive sport the best equipment tends to percolate to the top, and then everyone uses it until something better comes along. Change the rules all you want to favour other designs, it's still going to end up with a very short list of the most competitive platforms and then everything else.

If you want to have fun and don't care about moving up in the standings, pretty much any 9mm gun will work. If you want to compete and have a chance at winning at some point, it's best to purchase equipment that won't hold you back. The equipment noted in my first post will be your top three choices, competitively. That's not an opinion, that's what the numbers say.

Another vote for CZ. I shoot a SP-01 Shadow for Production. Have a G17 as well but have had many issues with it. CZ just works and works and works. Hard to go wrong with that

Buy good gear once instead of buying cheaper crap and then upgrading later. That's what i did and it cost me a lot more money to do it that way than if I had just bought the good stuff in the first place. DAA or Cr speed are the most common brands.

Walter from WC Ammo sales had everything you'd need to get setup. I think he can even get you your gun.

There is also Jim from A-zone who has gear and usually stocks most cz parts.

Or freedom ventures have been good when I've dealt with them too.

Shadow has ruined the Division????? I don`t think so.....take a look at a new $1500 Production division gun.......totally customized Tanfoglio Stock III Extreme and Stock II Extreme...... how is it possible to have a custom gun in production???? it`s against IPSC handgun rules......

+1 for Shadow....over 20K and just minor things like replacing slide stop (@10K) and extractor (@20K) :))))))

As long as its customized by the manufacturer, apparently its ok

Complaining about it is useless though.

Its not a custom gun if it is a factory issued model.
Its in production and appears on the production approved list so its good to go.
Also the price shouldn't factor into anything.

Sphinx pistols cost more than any Tanfoglio and are production legal. (and just like the Tanfoglio, also a CZ knockoff)

Who cares what gun you use. It isn't what will make or break your results.

Last production world champion shot a glock.
Second place was a Beretta
Does that mean anything?
3rd place at the 2013 US IPSC Nationals was a Caracal.
Does that mean it is in the works to be the next best thing?

And also, there have been what, 5 different versions of the Shadow released in the past few years?
Some with "fitted" barrels/slides and worked on trigger from the factory.

Shoot the gun you like.
