Sako quality - fact or fiction?

I cant complain about accuracy, but I honestly didn't think the SAKO's I have encountered did anything special. They were both 85 Bavarians and one was a 30-06, the other a 300 mag and they were both under and inch capable, but I hate the ergonomics of them and the felt recoil, even in the 06 was magnified in my opinion (maybe due to stock design) The fit and finish were good, but I would expect nothing less from a 1700.00 rifle. If it was me, I would go Cooper or semi custom long before considering a Sako
 
I just went and looked for it. Said you were "going to stop in Pemberton for coffee" .....in 2011.

Couldn't find anything about bears and wolves eating noses. From watching wolves take down deer, it seems they get into the guts first.

Of couse you do not remember as you got caught talking about something you know nothing about as well as Mr. Dean i followed you too and droped the truth and next thing i ended up on a life time band from B.C. Hunting to cover your little world . As your dig about 2011 coffee i was unable to drive or get around yet as i was crushed on the job but am getting better and i will be face to face with you just because This is who i am.
 
Well back to the thread....As the sig 3000 yes this model would be great and would sell a sako or two to get one in a 280rem. But that is not going to happen . I am thinking a 300 win.mag. will be coming one day

Do you not think the quality has dropped when compared to the older Sako models too? I really like the L61R and AV models. Those were the days when your "plastic" stocked Sako came with a McMillan stock.

Actually you are not banned. You received an infraction from Mr Dean for writing this:

elk were put here buy the wight man and are not native to van.island ....so why do they get many tags as it does not matter they kill what they want and no CO or RCMP will go there why did they take the bounty off them and there is not one pure breed indian left in BC

Which is pretty offensive.

Another infraction was for this :

the kodiak has a short barrel Gatehouse you make no sense at all do you have a brain injury they should post your pic. so others can turn away before they meet you ha ha ha

Many of your posts were unpleasant, so I'm not upset you don't post there anymore. (I have to be honest)

I'm sad for you that you were injured at work, but 3 years is a little long to hold an Internet grudge, IMHO. So save your ferry fare and coffee money, and use your newly regained health to do something constructive- like go hunting.

Your absolutely right about the magnified recoil. Because of the rear stock design, hence Bavarians, they kick harder than the conventional classic stock. I also owned a Blaser S2 in a 9.3x72R in the same Bavarian design and it would hurt like hell. My Sako is chambered for the 300 WSM and there are a lot of good things about the rifle except for the recoil, accuracy is superb!.................here it is.
 
Sako does make some nice straight stocks - the Classic Deluxe is a looker! And for you Sako fans:

Sako is introducing the Brown Bear in action size XL. This widens the caliber selection of the Bear Series to include 416 Rigby, 450 Rigby and 500 Jeffery. The laminate stock has been redesigned to accommodate larger calibers and the barrel profile has been redefined for the new calibers.

Brown laminated hardwood,straight classic stock, black action and 540 mm semi heavy barrel (21,1/4"). Exellent balance for good pointability.

A short, handy bruiser for sure. Although at 9.5lbs the recoil on the .500 Jeffery would probably be..."noticeable". I wonder if they will still be in the $2000 range.
 
I've only owned one, an 85 blued & walnut in .270 Win. I'd say the difference between other rifles and Sako is similar to the difference between Kia and Mercedes. Both have four wheels and an engine but they're not exactly in the same league.
 
I've had a couple and to be frank I don't think they are worth the money. That's not to say they are bad guns because they aren't, but I've got less expensive ones I like more or others that cost a lot more to seem like a better value to me. Sorry, but I simply don't see where they are anything special. There are other makes in my collection that I feel the same about.

For a similar price as a Sako I'd be looking toward a lower end Cooper.
 
I'd save and buy a Sako before a lot of the brands constantly recommended in this section. The entire rifle is quality, not just one or two points like with other makes, but for the money is hard to beat.

I have rifles of higher and lower quality than the sako, lots of negatives of any brand come from people with no experience with that brand, Others are so naive that any other brand rifle than the one they have the most experience with is junk.

I kinda feel the same way about Sako. Good guns , but expensive for what you get. There's better ways to get from A to B. :)
