9.3x62 'plans' in motion

Im glad someone posted some rifle pics, and beauties they be...

I like ".366 wagner" and I'd think that .360 would get folks confused with a .358 diameter projectile.

Id like to find a 9.3-62 in a left handed full length stock or a lefty 375 Ruger Alaskan later this year when I have some money set aside, neither will be easy to find as I'm sure you all know.

Point well taken and I recall that a similar logic or concern was expressed in some of the initial early discussions a while back.

Here's a photo of my 360 Wagner (by the way I thought we agreed on 360 not 366, too many syllables) Johnn, I highly recommend it, but you've already purchased the Zastava. It has the true Bavarian look as well.

It's the one in the rear with the Leupold compact on it, I blooded it on an Atlantic walrus bull with 270 gn Speers @ 2600 fps

Question I ment to ask earlier. I'm not familiar with the CZ 550FS but in past I have had a Brno 602 in .458WM. At that time I had, and still have a Winchester model Super Express, also in .458WM. To me, the 602 seemed to be a decent rifle but lacked some of the polish and smoothness of the Winchester so I put the Brno up for adoption. My question, in your opinion, how does the Brno 602 stack up against the CZ 550FS?

I have both, my 602 is a 375 H&H out of a custom shop so it has been ' manicured ' so to speak and my 9.3 is identical to Douglas's except for the scope.
Both are excellent in my opinion, the 602 is beefier which I like, but the CZ550 is a very smooth rifle and the workmanship is excellent on both.
For me, to decide between the two would be a very tough choice, one I don't look forward to....

Thanks for your input Kevan, much appreciated.:) I'll keep it in mind, should I decide to upgrade from the Zastava that's due to arrive soon.

You might be pleasantly surprised with the Zastava, I saw a nice one back during hunting season that a chap was carrying... and in 9.3.
I have to say it had a very nicely figured stock, actually nicer than my CZ, I quite liked it and he was pleased with the way it shot...

I concur with Kevan, I've owned many 602s and have one now in the 416 Rigby. The 550 is a much sleeker and smoother action, still not FN Winchester smooth, but about 20 hrs of polishing smoother than the old 602s. The old Brnos were reliable but crude, the new 550s are much, much better, Johnn. The 550s aren't anywhere near as big as the old 602 action either, much slimmer, I don't know how they fit a 505 Gibbs into this action or if there is another larger 550 that they use, just not that familiar with the CZ line-up. Fit and finish have come a long ways from the old Brno 600 series of rifles.
The only two Zastava rifles I have seen looked to have been checkered by a chimp and inletted by a baboon. They were an absolute disgrace in my opinion, the metal work seemed to be quite well done but the stocks were an abomination. Hope yours turns out to be one of the better ones Johnn.

I do believe you said you had a superfluous 358 NM in a Husky, I might be talked into some sort of deal for my 550 FS.............

:)I'm sure it'll be fine. From the photo that Trade Ex had posted of it on their site, the wood appeared to be quite a bit darker than that first one I had been dealing on, and that would be my preference.:) I am looking forward to it's arrival and planning some load data for it using the components I picked up at the Duncan show. I have a scope looking for a resting place on it and hoping the Weaver Pivot mounts I have for a 98 action will work. Likely I'll be going with either IMR 4320 or IMR 4064 and using the data form the 5th edition Nosler manual to start with.;)Let the games begin.

Got back from ShotShow , Cooper had the nicest 9.3x62 by far, a color cased reciever, NECG rear and front banded sight, case coloured floor plate and magazine, with a beautiful blued barrel, the only detractor for me was a Pachmeyer recoil pad? This gun deserved a nice metal checked one in my opinion, :), stock was Classic with nice figure.
There was a lot of guns I noticed at the show this year in this calibre! Most European, but a few domestic makers as well! There is hope yet that this is taking off in USA finally !

Cheers Dale Z:)

Which domestic makers other than Cooper?

You & me both. In most cases, you get what you pay for. And, as the Zastava doesn't seem to,;) command a high dollar........., but, I'm still hoping.
With the Husqvarna 358NM, when I was posting a search for a S&L in 358NM, Ted offered me that Husqvarna. Initially, I turned it down as I had to a couple other rifles I'd been offered chambered in that calibre. After he sent me photos of it and as I wasn't having any luck obtaining the Schultz I wanted:redface:, my resolve weakened and I adopted Teds gun. Even now after finally getting my long sot after S&L, and here they both are,

I'm still reluctant to part with the Husqvarna.;)It's too pretty. There are two others on site that have expressed an interest in it as well.

Baribal informed me it's a model 1651.

So Johnn, you play with your Zastava for a while and when you decide you really have to upgrade to the CZ 550 FS, just let me know. I know there is a deal here somehow where I end up with the 358 NM and you end up with a CZ550 FS..........LOL
I have a spare long magnum 700 action but would you REALLY want me to have to build one on a Remington? It just wouldn't be the same...........Besides, I have no need for a 358 NM, given the assortment of cals I already have in 35, 9.3 and 375, I just want that Husqvarna..........

I was just doing one last quick surf of the site before going on my bike ride when I saw your post come through. ;)I'll keep in mind your cross adoption suggestion or proposal and put you #1 on the Husqvarna 358NM list.

Not that there's one I specifically have in mind to acquire, but as a side issue, something in a Remington 700 is one of the more popular brands available that I've never owned. I did have the loan of my Son In Laws Remington 700 in .25-06 to 'play with' prior to getting a rifle in that calibre. For some unknown reason, I've never owned one.

Me either, but in my case, it's usually more want 'ich' than need 'ich' that requires scratching:p.

^^^^ my vote for picture is Ted riding on the back of a swimming moose while chasing his canoe...

Here is a proof. But there is an issue. If I were to blow it up larger the image will pixelate.

Does anyone have the original photograph? Or a higher resolution image?
