My steyr M95s

DOSING (as usual) is quit correct. You can form 8x50R Austrian brass in that fashion, but you will need to trim the case before inserting an 8mm slug.

I find that my Police Carbine shoots just WONDERFULLY high with a 175.

Of course, it IS sighted for 300 metres with a 244-grain slug. Wonder if that has anything to do with it........

Hmmmmmmm............

He fired it, say the result's and enjoyed it. No harm done.
Now if he had "missed" the target then a look down the bore would have been in order.

Yes. We were well aware of this. We fired 1 shot, checked the barrel, then fired another, but this time we had two more pails full behind the first pail. So we had three full pails. The first one blew up, lifting the lid again, split the second pail, but the lid stayed on, and the bullet bounced off the third pail. We couldn't find the bullet so we gave up.

My cohort shot a deer with one of these bullets. It peeled back perfectly, just like a fancy, expensive bullet is supposed to.

I don't recommend doing this.

But a good time was had by all!! (except the deer)

I have one long M95,shoot it occasionally too.

I had enough FL sizing brass so I ordered Lee neck sizer, pricey but very useful thing.

With CB loads neck sizing works very nice ( I never loaded j. bullets). As for mold I use oversize Lyman 8mm mold -it makes nice .330-.331 casts.

My biggest problem with this M95 is very dried up stock. It's impossible to get action tight enough in stock.
Just about every M95 I have seen had similar problem to various degree.

if you read anything on the ross you will see its big down fall is the chamber size. also the ross is built like a target rifle and is overly complex. the steyr is a much more true combat rifle. without reading into combat accounts and politics and all that, you need to just put the two guns beside each other and take them both apart and see for yourself. the guns are nothing alike other then the strait-pull turn bolt action.

Nice collection of rifles there JTF. Been thinking about one of these rifles for a while now due to their low price tag plus they seem to be a fairly solid rifle with great credentials. Trade Ex is all out but wonder if it's worth getting one of their 95/34's. I enjoy a decent thumper and would think these must be kicking in the range of a Mosin Carbine and then some.

Trade-Ex has only a few of the Steyr-Mannlicher M95/34 Carbines in 8x56R left when I was last there, the price is very good and they are not in that bad shape, as usual they under rate their condition, so if you want one for $139 you better hurry, they will not be any more coming in after these are gone.

good choice. I am going to pick another one up myself. you might want to add a box of ammo to your order . they have it in stock and thier price is about as good as any were. once you have then gun you will have to look for the manlichar clip for it. you can find them on ebay.

That's interesting. I knew the chamber was tight on the Ross. It was initially a sporting rifle, it stands to reason it wouldn't necessarily hold up in battle.

I got one too. we should get them Monday. they usually ship really fast.

I wouldn't worry about the $200 ones. the only thing is the $200 ones had the short rear sight. these ones for $140 have the long sight. nun of the ones I got had any damage to them and all bores were perfect. we will have to see though on these ones if there is any damage because he must not have many left to choose from.

Took a chance on the Tradex one for $139.00 to add to the milsurp collection and was VERY impressed with the condition and lightning fast shipping too. It was VERY well boxed. Just need a few clips and a sling to finish.

Didn't I say that they were in not that bad shape! I think they had a few with minor stock cracks but the last ones left are pretty good. They will probably be all gone for good by the end of the week.

Cool. Mine shipped so yeah should be here relatively quick. Didn't get ammo but I'm gonna check out the local shop to see if they have some in stock. Damn now I need a new mold and set of dies.
