That, in all likelyhood, is a Norinco NP30N, a nickel plated, double stack .45. Been trying to find one, but no luck. Hey Canada Ammo, any chance of ever seeing these again?

Oh sorry. My bad. I took a closer look. That is not an NP30N. I was temporarily mesmarized by the shine. Looks like a Gov. thats been hard chromed. This is an NP30N.

Waiting for someone to post actual pics of it cleaned up to see if I want to buy a chrome one too.

Also wonder how it would look like to swap out the slide of a chrome and blued one to make your own set of two tone chrome 1911 - one classic with black slide/chrome frame and one reversed with chrome slide/black frame

Buy the compact for $329, then send it to Dark for hard chrome, and for under $700, have something like this...

That is hard chrome at its best.

Hi, I'm looking for someone to do hard chroming, where can I find Dark, where is it located? thanks.

His name is Rodger Kotanko and he is in Port Dover, Ontario. That is in Southern Ontario, on the shore of Lake Erie. If you call him, call after 6:30 pm. He is a night owl and works late.

Also, if anyone is interested, he seems to deal a lot with Norincos. I've seen quite a few Norincos he has done, and he must get them in because he offers a .40 that looks and sounds like it is based on a Norinco. Check this out...

Since it hasn't been asked yet....on the chrome models, it looks like the sights are chromed too....can CanAm confirm if they are chromed or black?

Look at posting #38.

Does not address the question of whether the rear sight is silver in color as per the picture or not. Also, I am not refering to gun as chrome finished anymore. It is obviously just a silver coating of some kind, not an actual metal plated finish like chrome. I once sprayed an old set of headers with silver hi temp paint. That did not make them chrome. Sorry, just my opinion.

I believe they are chrome plated. Not sure why you think they're painted. Chromium is just the chemical name for chrome.
As someone else said, it's probably the same process that is used for the inside of their barrels.
