WOW! Chrome and Two Tone Norinco 1911 IN STOCK!!!

I bought a Star model BM (12.6 now...sigh) and had the store hard satin chrome it (out sourced) for ridiculously cheap, around 150 bucks... but that was 20-25 years ago. It looks AMAZING now with upgraded wood grips etc.. but where the heck would I go and not pay the price of a new stainless pistol for a chrome job anywhere in southern Ontario.

I had a brass snare drum polished in the GTA and it cost me $220!!

I would totally chrome a chinese sks.. just because, if I had a good "connection".

:)

Armco used to do it but I'm not sure if they still offer it?

Armco refers to Dark International. Rodger Kotanko at Dark is very good, and only 45min. from me. Runs about $300 for a nice polished hard chrome. That was my plan. I will be seeing him in the next couple of weeks to get some other work done. Will get a better price for everything, dehorning and polished and matte hard chrome, then post it.

awesome... after I get some issues settled with a certain vendor who is holding some of my AR parts hostage (and your too it seems?) I will look into this. Big thanks on that. I have been keeping my eyes open for a while on the chrome plate thing.. :)

Right on, I wonder if it's more cost effective for him to do a batch?

If I was getting a gun chromed I'd do most of the de-horning, blending and grunt work myself before sending it in.

This is the same chrome as inside the bore more then likely. Maybe with hand polishing with a polish http://www.mothers.com/02_products/05208.html

Hard chrome can't be polished. If you get a scratch it is not going away. That being said, it is very hard to scratch. The way it was explained to me, the finished products shinyness is determined before it is chromed. If you want a gloss finish, polish it then chrome it. It you want matte, then leave it matte before you chrome it.

Well damn... you answered my question before I got to ask it. I wondered if I bought one and took a buffing wheel and polish to it if I could make it 'mirror-like' but it sounds like not, eh?

Not an actual hard chrome finish, Norinco calls it a chromium finish. He said they are quite nice and the pic does not do them justice.

I got a two-tone Norc a few years ago...a standard 1911 model. The chrome frame [or whatever it actually is] is really nice and apparently quite durable...it has done nothing but polish up a bit on the rails from being fired. If this is the same chrome process, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Today at the grocery store talking to my mrs. about the potential new purchase....

Me "I don't think I need a 4th .45"
Her "then buy it for me, I like it"
Me "I love you"

I will post pics when my uhh her new compact shows up.

Do you have an address for Dark International? You can PM me if you don't want to post here. It looks like a KW area code.
Funny web site where they don't give their address anywhere.

ordered a full size chrome. Will post up some pics once it arrives and a range report if I manage to get out :)

Thanks Canada Ammo for bringing in great and varied products! :D

I ordered a nowlin stainless steel barrel bushing. It's supposed to be a pre-fit bushing.
Anyone know if they just drop into the norincos without smithing??

Looks like these ones are stamped "Made in China", unlike the government model that was in the combo deal...any possibility of chrome or 2-tone without the China/Norinco markings?

Normally I'm 'tone deaf' but I gotta admit that, sans packing grease, that Police model looks pretty sweet for a $350 bill.
