Springfield sold the specs to Norinco. Norinco started making their "M305-POS"
I can speak from experience as I have the M305 and it is junk. Shoots about 8-10 moa at best. It is unmodified from the factory, 22" barrel. It's fun because it goes bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, and that's about it. I think my compound bow is more accurate!
Super jealous of the OP, not only has one, but two! We are not worthy!
I'd love to get a National Match LRB but can't afford it at the moment.

That's bad even for a Norc, but just a little tightening and straightening will give you far better results than what you have now.
Two hours farting around would give you a different gun and far better groups. I wouldn't even feed the thing to get 8-10 moa.
Unless its REALLY screwed up, 3-4 moa should be within reach quite easily with off the shelf ammo.
Wish we were neighbours, I'd help you fix the bugger up .

I still cant get over the out of the box groups with the LRB. I'm still jealous, but have fallen in love with my Norc again. It just wont quit trying, and ya gotta love that.
I am now saving for an LRB tho, just not telling the wife :)
 
Thanks, I forgot to mention that the pull and break on the SEI max pack trigger groups is amazing, I'm sure that alone helped the grouping. I thought I was crazy for spending that amount on trigger groups, at the time I could of bought 3 factory norc rifles for the amount of two trigger groups, but I'm glad I did

That was my experience too, actually. Mind you, I bought my Nork used and was going to throw half of it in the garbage as I pimped it out. I only put 20 rounds through it and couldn't hit chit off hand...but I know what my shooting abilities are and off my hind feet...I hit what I am aiming at with a good gun at 100 yards. Mine was all over the place.

The quality of these high end M14's has to be seen to be believed. I never pimped out that Nork, I sold it before I fell into another money pit in the gun safe. About a week or two back I actually got to pick up and fondle a Springfield match gun and fellas - the Norks don't even come close. Even the race grade blown Norcs don't compare to their counterparts from Springfield and if these LRB fellas are just as good (and it seems like they are) - I might buy one.

If you have to buy a Norc to get shooting then by all means do it - but for me, there is a lot to be said for a gun made by expert riflemen for expert rifleman.

Won't be this year, I have my hands full with a BPCR gun and a Tavor...but next year? When the wife isn't watching me as closely? I should be able to fit a Super Match into the gun cabinet noooo problemo.

Yes indeed, Smith Enterprise Crazy Horse M14s are highly prized by US military units that have them.
SEI has built-up many M14s for the US military even before OEF, they also build awesome M14s for civilians.
My Crazy Horse M14s were built-up on Norinco and Poly Tech receivers, the old heel stamped Poly Tech
receivers are my personal favorites.

SEI's Max-Pack upgrade is well worth the price.
I have USGI TRW and Poly Tech triggers groups with the upgrade, and you can't detect a difference when shooting.
 
Seeing as a few of the noobs, have turned the OP LRB thread into a Nork bash, I hope you're puitting all you pennies in a big piggy bank to get an American Rifle this year and not have to return back to the poor old slut you have beaten so badly for your future M-14 jollies.

edit: There's enough information and help from fellow shooters here on CGN in the M-14 community to put most things right if so inclined, and indeed more than enough information before purchasing an M-14 and what it may require of you.

Ya it had a USO, but I didn't like the weight of it and the m2 bipod. I shot it a couple times with the USO and although amazing glass it wasn't really what I was looking for in the end I did not get as nice of groups but I'm attributing that to the m2 bipod instead of using a steady rest. I'm way happier with the B&L setup and has the old school m25 roots that I wanted. I like the way it is now so much that I'm selling the leupy 10x from the 18.5 to fund the purchase another. Here's what she looked like before

It does not matter if you are a Norinco guy or a SAI guy. We all have agree that is a nice pair of rifles. I'm jelous.

Another problem with the M2 is it exerts upward pressure on the barrel. Better to put a stud on the stock and use a Harris.
