Yes I broke down and ordered a GII Recon. I liked what I saw and the thought put into it. Plus I was fairly impressed how they did the product launch. I don't have a 16" (LMT has a 16" barrel for it but I currently have the 20" SS on it). So I'm hoping like ntm that my instincts are right and this is a far cry from the DPMS of past (Although my target rifle is very accurate).
Something interesting today. I pulled out my recently built Armalite SASS AR10B rifle and the LMT MWS. I took a closer look and the cutout shape for the LMT upper/Lower is the exact same shape as the AR10. Well I figured what the heck and separated both uppers and lowers.
The LMT upper fit the AR10 lower perfectly. It looked good too. So I grab an Armalite Gen2 mag (M14 based) along with a snap cap. Hold open worked, bolt release worked and the round chambered perfectly. It extracted properly too. Warning I don't recommend this as there may be other issues such as bolt shape etc which could cause issues. Do so at your own risk!!!
Now the AR10 upper wouldn't fit on the LMT lower. It appeared the LMT take down pins were just a touch too big to go through the holes for the upper.
Just thought I'd mention this as it was extremely interesting.
