I'm looking for suggestions for what glass to put on my new Tavor...
I want to have enough zoom to see coyotes at 500 yards, and hold over/BDC reticle that matches .223 @ 2900-3000fps would be a plus.

Any suggestions?
Anybody running a similar setup?

Not sure about the exact fps, but i think an ACOG should cover that. If you are not set on the BDC you could get a Sightron 1-7x24 they released a MRAD version this year

I considered the ACOG, and if I can find a good quality one at a decent price, I might get one. I was hoping to get something with variable zoom, so that Sightron 1-7 might be just the ticket!

Thanks:)

Just be sure to consider the length and necessary eye relief of the Sightron given the length of the Bullpup. I tried the Sightron 1-7 and it seemed long.

I luckily picked up a NXS 2.5-10 from another CGN'R. At 9" I think it'll be great!

I'm a big fan of variable power scopes.

The Vortex PST 1-4 is a great bang for your buck.

I upgraded to their Razor 1-6 last year and never looked back. Jerry Mickuliek's reticle is a winner for sure. Keep in mind that the Razor is a heavier scope than an Acog or similar fixed power sight. But its eye-relief far outstrips those military builds.

It's the flat top rail design, so eye relief isn't a problem. However price on the tactical scopes is a problem.
I'm inclined to just put a Viper HS 4-16x44mm BDC and call it a day! Why pay twice as much for half the magnification? Coyote hunting out here usually does not occur within 50 yards, more like 100-200 when you spot them and then they start running! Lot's of open country around Calgary.
The tactical ones are awesome, but I don't want to spend over $1000
Can you think of any reason a standard rifle scope would not be advised, other than blocking the flip up sights that are built into the rail?
I'm planning on putting the removable iron sights on 45 degree offsets to retain some CQB ability, but I'm going to take some measurements before I see whether or not that is an option... Of course, the smaller ACOG's don't take up as much room and wouldn't interfere with the offset mounts.

Heck, throw whatever scope you choose into a QD mount (ADM..etc.) and your laughing. No reason a 4-16 won't work well.

Nope! If you're not looking to dynamically suppress those coyotes, there's no reason you couldn't use a traditional scope. Just watch your ring heights and cheek-welds!

I never used my 2.5-10 on enough on my Tavor. Now it lives on the Rem 700:

Whatever you use I'll be jealous of you everytime you're in the bush hunting coyotes with it!!

For an ammo test I have a Burris Fullfield II in a QR Pepre mount. I have the 1.5 version of the Tavor and the heigt is perfect. 3-9x 40mm ballistic plex drop down. Glass is 95% light transmission so it's very bright. The only $200 or less scope I would ever suggest.

You could lighten it a bit with the ADM scout mount. Also the E1 Burris model now has an etched reticle.

For more tactical but not super expensive there is the CMR HiLux 1-4x and various Vortex offerings. I have a few of the Hilux on AR rifles in the ADM scout mount. It's a good combo for a 223 rifle for the price. Not enough eye relief though on the HiLux for 308.

The first Tavor I shot about 6 years ago had an Elcan fixed 4X on it. Actually worked very well as a combination.

Thanks for the advice, that comment stuck in my mind. I meaured the height of the built-in rear peep sight at about 1.5", which is a nice natural cheek weld height for me. I'm geussing standard rings are not going to work for me. I was wondering why the previou pics had scopes on big extended mounts, now I know...

Any suggestions where I can find a mount that will get the center of the scope 1.5" above the rail?

I have a Leupold riser on my M-4 but I think that was just a 1" lift...

I picked up the ADM mount yesterday. Looked (maybe) a millimeter lower than I wanted, but not as far off as the Leupold equivalent (too low by at least 1/8").

Going with the Vortex Viper HS 2.5-10x44mm. I just can't justify spending four times as much on a fixed 4x tacticool scope. Roadhunting Coyotes is the primary purpose for me, so the BDC reticle and fixed parallax setting should make life easier.

Getting off-topic, but what ammo has worked well for you fellow Tavor owners? What kind of precision/moa groupings are you getting?
1:7 twist rate should work well with 55-72gn bullets?
