If retailers want to stop people from dog piling on in the forms to express their frustration .. hire someone to answer e-mails Canada Ammo 1911 fiasco of Summer 2013 comes to mind .. non 1911 related purchases held up a month or more, no or little e-mail returned , just bad management. Marstar has never answered one of my three e-mails on product info. This is an on-line community. These retailers are on-line operations with e-mail as a week link .. sad

They should also realize many clients are coming from a generation that has been seldom told no, and who were always offered a path of negotiation instead of "No". This means the old my way or the highway is really not quite understood by them, as so many of that generation post here when they lose their negotiation, " I will never buy from X again " actually it is a fail on their part instead of it being a fail on the part of the retailer.

But operating an online business with an established unsatisfactory e-mail response time is just plain asking folks to come here and vent .......

Edit: Called Marstar once .. Frustrated with no e-mail answer , got great service ... other times just ordered online was fulfilled .. So their system works if no e-mail required ?????

I did so in another industry. Started a forum against a monstrous competitor. Crushed the competitor, and sold the forum for $200k U.S.. So I actually know what I'm talking about. You, I suspect are just flapping your gums. What's your experience? Posting opinions on forums?

The only advantage this site has right now is it's member base. It's established. There's very little about this site that's unique, and that couldn't be duplicated by me or dozens of other people in about 6 hours and a few hundred dollars. Moving the membership is the problem. That would take a lot of money and time. OR, something as simple as the mods doing the kind of thing that the previous no-nothing suggested of laying heavy on the membership. Mods start laying heavy on the members by deleting posts that offer opinions and I won't need to create a competitor site, there's a dozen others that will do it for me.

And I never said I was unhappy here. THere's a lot of blowhards such as yourself, but the EE is pretty good.

LOL see that's the problem you don't know what you are talking about, its not just about the technical side (whipping a website together); it takes more than that to make a successful firearm/hunting site. You have not even had a PAL for two years, and you know almost nothing about the firearm industry; what could you or a site you build in an hour possibly offer anybody? You were welcomed to this site a little over a year and half ago and you are a already dissing the site and its moderators. In almost 20 years of years of internet firearm forums I have seen many blowhards say its so easy to start another firearm site, and I have seen dozens fail. Why not prove me wrong and give it a go.

As for my experience at 42 I have been collecting, hunting, and shooting since age 15, and involved in the firearm, and hunting community consistantly through those years. My comments are based on real world experience in the firearm community. Years of shooting different disciplines Trap, skeet, bench rest, pistols, 3 gun. Involvement with clubs, safety training for new members. Time spent building actual personal bonds with experienced elders; being taught how to shoot, hunt, reload, build firearms from people with knowledge. What is your experience in the firearm community? a city slicker from T.O with a cooey and a pair of SKS lol.

Funny I was a member of a firearms board where someone did start a a new firearm site, and it did well. That forum was Assault Web and the new site that was formed was GUNNUTZ I have been here since the start and will be here long after your gone.

So why not put your money where your mouth is and show me how easy another board can be launched, I will add it to the list of failures that have come before you.

Quick question have you ever purchased anything from Marstar? In all the years dealing with them my experiences have bee A1.

Well thats a non winning proposition hire more staff pay moye overhead and wages to do so the cost goes up sales go down and its a big vicious circle

So when jon saves likely 15 thousand a year not being a paid sponsor is he going to spread the savings onto customers on future purchases???

We need a discount code for the website..................

never gave a cent to marstar yet but I was not scared off from any of the marstar bashing im actually planning to make a purchase at the end of the month I know that marstar has always been good for the shooting community so I will support them no matter what they decided to do

A big reason why this site has so many issues. The mods here need to be more active. I would not let any of the bashing happen on the forum that I am currently admin of. Discussion is one thing but 10+ pages of arguing and name calling shouldnt happen. I would have told both parties to take it to PM and locked the thread.

Perhaps the mods have an infraction quota, to meet.:D

On another note, Marstars value to the gun community was much higher to all of us when they were the leaders in new products and imports. Now they have been passed by and the bar certainly has been raised by people like SRFC, wanstalls, frontier etc. They were the pioneers for us old guys but now the new gun and equip shops present a much nicer and easier customer focused approach.

I like them and John, but maybe its time to move along
Lets be very clear on the import side my friend, ALL Chinese Military rifles brought in were Marstar Imports, about 90% of the imported 7.62x39 military ammo brought in was Marstar's doing, who is the largest Norinco importer in Canada, who offers the best deals and warranty on Chinese firearms ??....Remember what the prices were before we got involved ? A high percentage of the Soviet weaponry on the Canadian market came from us...
As a matter of curiosity where do you think the above outlets shop for a lot of military goods ??
Please don't count us out just yet.

hey most of my freinds are jerks, would not have it any other way , i personally like the real people. im thinking we should start a ####ty customer thread and list all the whiners so dealers wont sell to them

I already have my own list going..............

I've heard nothing but positive things from people I know in person who have purchased stuff from MarStar... I don't agree with dealer bashing on the forums, it's not fair to the business who forks out tons of money to be on here and support the firearm community. It's not polite to have everyone ganging up on a business man like this. Come on people, we are better then this. If you have a problem with an order or a business take it up with them personally don't come ranting and raving on here to try and mob on someone. Sorry to hear that this happened to you John, I have never dealt with you personally but like I said I have heard good things.

Wishing you the best of luck,
Outcold

I personally have not purchased from Marstar, though I have a thing to say about Vancouver dealer, and courier company.
23 Dec 2013 I ordered SVT-40 that was posted as Xmas special $199.99, I said I would pay via money order, and would drive down pay with money order (or cash, debit) on the 27th. I arrived at the store on said date to find a posted sign indicated closed until new year, you think they would have posted that on there website? I relaid my finding via email to them, and that I would be down to Vancouver again to square up the deal. So I was disappointed when they reopened and sent me email saying they had not received the funds so the price was back to $299.99. I replied saying no thank you.
Courier company ACE, delivered Xmas envelope from dear friend in Victoria. I signed for the plastic bubble envelope, and was disappointed to see that it was stapled (resealed). The contents had been pilfered and $400.00 cash stolen, RCMP could do nothing the courier company took our info, and to this date have not received any type of acknowledgement from them.

John,
I placed a very large order with you yesterday - $35.00 - and the status still says 'processing'. What's up with that? You haven't returned any of my phone calls, e-mails or PM's. Oh wait - I haven't sent you any. But, still, I feel I must bash you in a public forum.

Seriously, I have ordered a few firearms from you and miscellaneous parts over the years. My orders have always been shipped promptly and I have always been pleased with the quality of your products. It matters not to me if you leave CGN. I will continue to visit your web site and place orders with you when I see something I can't live without.
From a satisfied customer.
