I have a Stag 14.5" 1/7 twist AR barrel that's shooting 5" groups at 20 yards, it has less than 1000 rounds fired.

Casey at Tac Ord checked it with a boroscope, dismounted and mounted it back on my Vltor upper and found nothing wrong. And as I was told by the Stag arms dealer, this barrel is 5 years old it's not covered by warranty even though it has not been shot out.

I am sorry to hear of your situation. I contacted Stag Arms on this matter and they have informed us that your upper, purchased in 2007 was covered with a 1-year warranty period which is now about 5 years expired.
We can offer you assistance in purchasing a replacement unit if that is of interest?

It's always done this? What ammo and sights are you using?

Nope... happened at a 3-Gun match last year. Thought it was my NF scope but turned out it wasn't the case since I had the scope sent back to the factory and had it checked.

I have used PMC 5.56 62gr to Remington UMC to AE 55gr... all did the same...

I thought Stag was guaranteed for life?

I have seen this once before, but not this extreme, the barrel extension had come loose/over torqued misaligning it with the barrel.

I only bought the complete upper.

Casey removed and reinstalled the barrel... checked everything and made sure it sat properly on the receiver.

..so borescoping included the last couple of inches and crown I would assume?
When did you last clean it? I have a 6920 bought used that was printing 5" groups - gave it a real good scrub with JB paste and now prints into 2" no issues.

If you've removed all of the variables, your barrel is toast. Sad but it happens pre-maturely on very rare occasions.

Yes Casey checked the crown.

Cleaned it a dozen times between the 5 separate trips to the range trying different ammo, etc... Casey said even with a filthy barrel it should not shot this bad.

if you are getting wandering grouping, sounds like somethings loose. are you shooting standing, supported, from the bench?

From the bench with a bipod.

Yep checked with irons, tightened mount for the scope, checked tightness for the bipod...etc etc...

It's shooting all over the place basically with the same point of aim.

Just feel pretty disappointed that Stag Arms is a huge sponsor for 3-Gun and I pretty much just shoot 3-Gun with my AR.

If you have not already, it may be good idea to contact Arms East and see if they can be of assistance.
AFAIK, they are Canadian distributor for Stag Arms, which has lifetime warranty.

That's their reply in the original post. They said it's only 1 year warranty on parts.

Confusing.

I am considering purchase of Stag Arms AR from them.

Perhaps what they mean is that in order to have lifetime warranty, one must buy an entire Stag Arms AR, not only an upper or barrel.

Still somewhat disappointing.
