This place lacks a Mosin presence!

I purchased a'34 Tula hex receiver Mosin after getting my PAL last year. I truly enjoy using it. I even got a membership at a local range so I could shoot it more often. Next step will be getting a hunting license so I can bag me a deer !!!

I never felt a 44 or 38 kicked even with 203gr SP's ? Not made of Indian Rubber but not like the JC with 215's....perhaps the stock shape has something to do with it?......Harold

got mine in the mail a couple days ago. got the cosmo off of all the working parts. but i think im going to wait until i can go outside to do the barrel/receiver and let the stock sit in the sun. just globs of the crap everywhere.

I love russian stuff! so simple it blows my mind, like the trigger. it almost makes me laugh. and pretty cool how the firing pin can be unscrewed using part of the bolt.

I find that if i am standing and shooting freehand the mosin isn't too bad as long as you hold it good and tight.

The problem i have is that i have one i put a scout scope on and as soon as i try to sit down at the bench and really focus on a good shot to sight in the scope it really drives the butt into you rather than you flexing and absorbing the recoil.

That's the biggest problem, the rifle is more than capable out that far, however me, my eyes and my ability to line things up to hit things out that far aren't up to the same standard as the rifle.

I hear ya my eye sight isn't the greatest and I had a stroke jan 21 2014 I am not allowed to shoot anyways. I have to wait another 2 months. I can't even drive legally yet. All I got is TV and the Internet. It blows.

Anyone prefer the carbine to the full sized version? I know I for one do. The 91/30 is priced cheaper but instead I scooped up a few carbines, which cost more, just because I like them better.
They are the exact same rifle and action, but the carbine just looks and feels MUCH nicer to me.

I just got my M44 off of the Collectors source. Only put 20 rounds through it so far, but I love it. I don't find it kicks hard at all. When it gets above -30C I might even go out closer to dusk and see some fireballs.

It doesn't kick because you are bundled up in winter clothes try it in a t shirt when it warms up. Personally I think people exaggerate on how much rifles kick it more of a nudge.

lol yeah. For sure. You know what they say about people who make blind assumptions... ;)

I heard the M44 shoots left without the bayo extended. What was your experience?

It would seem that way. I'll be taking it to a range this summer, Going to be busy with work for the next few months. I was just ringing the gong, and I only did 5 shots with the bayo out. But the pic tells the story.

Super, another Manitoban Mosin owner. Join CGN Manitoba and Manitoba Milsurps on FB so we can coordinate shoots and stuff.
