I would like to know if all Sig P226 MK25 have the small anchor engraved on them. A local gun shop has 2 in stock 1 with the Sig seal on the grip and the barcode label but no Anchor on the slide and a used one with just the barcode again no anchor. I asked a salesman and he said the new ones don't have the anchor but Sig's website still shows the anchor. I really like the gun but I want to make sure I am getting the genuine article.

Thanks very much.

Ed.

Some have anchors some don't. Use to be that only the 1st gen ones had anchors and new gen did not have them. I however just picked one up with an anchor with a build date of October 2013 so who knows. Maybe they found some old slides and are using them up. I personally like the anchor

I know it's not a huge deal, but WTF Sig? What kind of BS is that to offer a gun without what it was originally advertised to have?

(Mine has an anchor on it).

That is what i don't understand as well.
Sig's website says "The SIG SAUER® P226® is the pistol that set the standard by which all other combat handguns are measured. The exceptional ergonomics and balance make this fullsize pistol easy to handle. Its longer barrel yields better ballistic performance and accuracy. The P226 MK25 is identical to the pistol carried by the U.S. Navy SEALs-the fleet’s special warfare operators. The railed P226 chambered in 9mm and engraved with an anchor on the left side of the slide is the official sidearm of the SEALs."
But some have it some don't? If your paying for it you should get it.

you are paying for that anchor, the barcode will peel off eventually so that is not really a feature, just a marketing gimmick.

Mine has it and box says 24-MAY-2013, look for the certificate in the leaflet maybe? the small cert. isn't serialized so isn't of much use but it should be there.
A friends and mine also has a UU serial, another friend got one (all 3 ordered at the same time but last one received a couples months later) and his isn't UU… I was led to believe they all were, guess not He's got the anchor tho.
We all got MK25-10 too, first two with 2 10rds mags, last with 3 10rds mags… all @CRAFM via MDCharlton.
Should've order from Questar for a couple $$ more we'd all have 3 10/15rds phosphate coated mcgars mags and MK25 without the -10 ):

Awesome gun tho.

Maybe someone swapped out the slides for regular ones so they can have the cool anchor on their pistols seeing that the slides aren't registered. :p

How do you like the SOG knife?

Its all a marketing gimmick. Its a basic 226 with tacky emblems and an increased price tag.

You obviously don't care about details... To each is own. I prefer having the chrome lined chamber and bore, the phosphate internals and the 1913 picatiny rail. The anchor and label serves no purpose.

From what I heard the SOG Trident "notch" is a SEAL thing too, a SEAL designed it after he popped the "rubber ducky" trying to cut a rope with an open blade on a wavy sea lol...

Mine is a -10, came with 3 mags, cert, bar code, grip wrap, no UU in the serial number and ..... No anchor. Not gonna lie, I was a little disappointed. I wanted the phosphate coated internals, night sights and chrome lined bore, but I liked the anchor too. Didn't bother sending it back over such a small detail, but I was a little put off. What if I sell it down the road? Some douche will say "it isn't real". Not that I plan on selling it. It's like going to dinner at a fancy restaurant and they don't give you any bread. Not a big deal, but you remember it before you choose to go there again.

Yep, false advertising does sucks. And don't get me wrong I like the anchor and even the UID on mine...
but what made me pick a MK25 over a P226R is picatiny, phosphate and chrome.

What have we done for years before a chrome chamber and bore?! A stock 226 offers nothing less than this "special edition" 226 and for less money. SIG pistols are very reliable, boringly reliable. The chrome extras are more for corrosion resistance and longevity than anything else.

Let's agree to disagree TDC; a stock 226 is chrome less, phosphate less, picatiny less, label less and anchor less... Sometimes even siglite less. It does offer many thing less.
Now, if you please, can we get back on topic of what differences there is between MK25s out there?

to the OP - have you noticed the extractor on them? I'm wondering if they had the short or long external extractor now. (Mine is the short one)

I think you get good bang for the buck. I love mine. UU serial, short extractor, anchor, 3 10/15 round mags, chrome bore and chamber, and certificate. Purchased from Questar.
