Ontario hunters don't forget to renew!

Sorry to hijack, just a quick somewhat related question :)

Hey guys, I gotta renew my outdoors card (fishing). I haven't done the hunting course, do I need to pass the hunter safty training course to get a varmint licence? Or is it like the fishing licence, ie you don't need training? Lol
If i do need the HSTC, should I wait to renew my card?

You need to do the Hunter safety course.
 
Could someone enlighten please?

Crappy tire told me the week before new year's that I could not buy a new small game license until my current one expired on Dec 31st. I told her I didn't think that was right but she refused to sell me one. Not caring that much as I wasn't planning on going until a week or 2 into the new year anyways, I just walked away.

What's the deal?

This same thing happend to me in December!
I wanted to renew it for a year and she would not let me...
I still have not went in yet!
Now I'm thinking about renewing it for 3 years and that's it

But can someone explain this to me...
My brother in law is telling me that now I'll have to carry a little piece of paper and the card?
Please tell me he's full of it like normally?

How does this work now?
Last year when I renewed it for the year they sent me the new cards with the licences on the back
But now the card expired in December... So will it be the same thing I'll get a card( not a stupid paper that will get destroyed)

Buy a 1 year license in the store and you get a stupid piece of yellow paper for each type of license. No more convenient little stickers on the back of your Outdoors Card.

This is my license (R) and tag (L) for black bear last year. You have to carry these in addition to your Outdoor Card.

Edit, your temporary license (Outdoor Card) looks exactly the same as the game license...

So maybe if I get the 3 year they will send me a nice card with all the licences on the back?
At least the fishing and small game...
I have already to much paperwork junk haha

If your outdoors card has expired then yes. I just got my new outdoors card and 3 year small game and 3 year fishing. I renewed in person one day as I was already in the building where there was a service ontario office that dealt with hunting and fishing licences (not all do)

Temporary 3 year outdoors card, temporary 3 year fishing and temporary 3 year small game were the yellow sheets. Got my plastic card in the mail a couple weeks later with licences printed on the back.
