Brought out the Famae this weekend and played around.

So a quick range report.

Shot 100 rounds through mine this weekend. The rifle is very comfortable to shoot and hike around with, and the recoil impulse is straight to the rear, the muzzle does not jump and the rifle settles right back on target. Accuracy is quite decent at first glance, though I have not put it on paper yet. I do not like the bipod very much, as it will fold either forwards and backwards without much pressure, so you have to be careful about how much you load your bipod. It is very effective at mitigating muzzle jump, but I wish it would not fold forwards.

I was firing at 200 meters, using Norinco copper-washed .308 Winchester ammunition. Shot 5 rounds on clean steel to get it sighted in, 3 shots, adjusted the windage, and fired two more, and walked down to take a photo. With Norinco ammo, a less than perfect rest, and a 1-4x scope, it really shows that this firearm has plenty of potential for accuracy. Note that this plate is 18" wide for scale.

Out of the 100 rounds, near to the end I started having some fail to feeds, the magazine followers appear to be binding up and not allowing the next cartridge up fast enough. This may have been an issue due to the cold, or due to the magazines having a burr on the followers that is binding. I will take them apart and check, but I am pretty much 100% sure that these few fail to feeds were mag related, not the fault of the firearm.

All in all, I am extremely happy with the rifle, and once the mags are sorted out, this will be a firearm that comes out with me quite frequently.

Tactical as F*%K

Damn you and your gun room, I hate you so much with your G36, PS90 RFB and .50 cal that would look awesome hanging over my desk. I loath your .30 cal browning you use as a foot stool because you can, and your collection of shells that makes mine look like little toy dildos in comparison to your "big bertha"......

Most of all I hate how you say tap tap bang bang. because you know your the boss and when other people say it they look the fool, but you and your collection ooze so much cool that you could jump around like zoidberg and get away with it.....

DAMN YOU!

you younguns have spare eyes??

No shooting glasses on video, eyes are marvelous things in this old guys opinion , stuff happens with ammo and rifles, just saying, eyes are nice.

Having owned a SwissArms and now owning the SG542 I can clearly see that the SwissArms is a descendent of the SG542, some obvious differences are:

- butt stock and how it attaches to the lower receiver
- bolt hold open (part to upper receiver on SG542 and part of lower on PE90)
- gas block and front sight (complete unit is moved to disassemble gas system on SG542, fixed in place on PE90)(block is slightly loose)
- sights (front and rear are different design and don't have night sights)
- bipod and attachment of it are different

How do you like the folding stock?

With that scope mount it looks like you could add some padding to the top of the stock tubes.

I quite like it actually, especially since I do lots of backpacking with my guns. It is more of a chin weld you get when using optics, but it still works.

It could definitely benefit from some padding or building it up somehow, but that will have to wait till summer for me, too many projects going on right now. I'm thinking that welding another bar onto the top and making it a smooth connection would be better than padding, because it won't interfere with the mechanism that locks the stock in the folded position.
