NEA 14.5 or Black Forge AR 16"

Uh huh and there was another thread where someone had either a savage or a Rem bolt gun that produced ca 5 MOA groups new out of the box. So your point would be ........ ?

That is just stupid. I have two NEA's and they work fine. I have two Aero Precision and they work fine too. I've had a bunch of other makes of AR and they all worked fine. One of my test rifles is a bitsa frankengun (you know the type of thing generally poo poo'd by the "intelligensia" here) and it runs and runs and runs no matter how much abuse it gets and how little cleaning or maintenance it has.

I have only had the NEAs for a short period of time and haven't had a chance to really abuse them but so far they seem fine. It is cool to have a CDN made rifle though. Canada should have a domestic firearms industry.

Which is true of every single consumer product on the planet. So your point would be ..... ?

When I bought a Dodge Dakota many years ago I checked them out on the internet and found pages of people #####ing and complaining about how crap this truck was. Yet we kept ours for 11 years and racked up 265,000 kms on it with little in the way of issues.

Condemning NEA for stuff that occurred three years ago seems petty and stupid to me. They have continued to improve their products and the new rifles are much different from the original ones.

Fanboy much?

lol at your 3 years ago.

Anyone know who sells palmetto state armory? They seem to be well received per google

IRunGuns can get you one...if you go this route get one with a cold hammer forged barrel. Easily on par with Daniel Defense (I know...I've got a couple) and the barrels are made by FN. I'll admit...I'm a fanboy for PSA (but not their low end PTAC stuff...avoid that)

There is more to that NEA keyholing that may not be an NEA issue.

Norinco ammo? Please say Norinco ammo........ I was thinking Norinco ammo as soon as I heard Keyholing.... Especially given as pretty much every NEA barrel has demonstrated itself to be very accurate.

Man, I'm hoping for Norinco ammo on this one. That stuff is just sh!t. It'll blow your face off faster than a sheared bolt lug.... ;)

It happened with both norinco ammo and S&b. I don't recall if it happened with ae or winchester.

@antoine22 I'm pretty sure he was taking about shilling when he referred to the events of 3 years ago.

I would be willing to bet that, proportional to the volume of production, NEA has a similar rate of problems as other companies. Just look one day the speed at which NEA guns go out of stock at SFRC. When they had that 10.5" sale, something like 15 guns sold in a week. Four posts about problems is not indicative of systemic problems.

I am not a fan boy. Before purchasing my NEA I commented on a different post that the OP should buy a norinco over an NEA (the post was asking for opinions on the two). Now, having shot the NEA, I prefer it in spite of the Keyholing, that NEA is addressing.

You are stating that you have experienced keyholing only with Norinco and S&B ammo, so what problem is NEA addressing?

as much as im not a fan of *** a bad barrel can happen to any one, 90% of gun makers do not make there own bbl blanks.
I would not make a big deal about it, just exchange the gun.

I have a NEA 10.5 on the way (SFRC sale), I should hope it wouldn't send bullets down range sideways even with a short barrel. But I'm curious, has any one followed the recommended barrel break in process they have on the NEA website; clean every five rounds for twenty, then every twenty five until one hundred, etc… This may actually be important to the accuracy and longevity of the rifle, but who knows?

I was planning to pick up norinco 5.56 surplus ammo for after the break in period. If any one shows interest I will try my best to post my experience with this gun.

I was talking to NEA about the firearm that was keyholing. I don't have specific details but they said it was an issue with one of the prongs on the muzzle break and it was fine after it was changed.

I'm assuming it was bent or off centre and the bullet was touching it on the way out.....besides sideways bullets are better...they make bigger holes so there is more chance of getting a better score :)

My 7.5" NEA that I bought back in Dec has been running flawlessly. The magazine that came with it has issues, but it runs great with other mags, including PCVs.
