Shorten PAL Approval Times

How soon can you send your renewal before it expires ?
Got my renewal app in the mail on Feb 12 , three months before it expire on May 12. Some people on here say to print off a copy and send it in earlier, maybe up to six months, but I'm not sure. I know it only took me 30 days, but I hear of people waing longer than the three months that you are given.

Just got the upgrade to RPAL.

Sent in paperwork feb 6. Online status changed to 'processing application now..' That day I called in and the nice lady conducted my interview (mar 3rd I think) right then and gave me my file number. Called my references and had them call in the next day.

This sticky I believe is the reason I got the licence so 'quickly', thanks to all who took the time to simplify the process. Now I am gonna do a little damage to the bank account...

My Timeline:

CFSC/CRFSC Course - Jan.25-26
Mailed Application (Registered) - Feb.7 (Should have mailed sooner)
Received by CFP - Feb.10
Appeared online - Mar.7 (https://secure.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/eCFISIWS/editLicenceQueryAuthentication.do)
Faxed Course Results (1-800-411-0622) - Mar.8 (had to wait to get Application #, results came Feb.10, just after I sent in application)
Called by CFP! - Mar.11 (missed call, but called back to do interview)
Called both references - Mar.11 (both missed their calls too, but had one call back to complete his interview)
Application Processed and License issued! - Mar.11 (same day as interviews)

Update:
My second reference was called Mar.17 (after my license showed online as issued - weird!)
I called today Mar.20 to make sure everything was ok and was told the licence was mailed on Mar.17. Strange that it showed as processed and issued Mar.11, and not really finalized until Mar.17.

Okay, so I am on day 54 of waiting for my non-restricted PAL here in Fredericton, NB.
Lucky for me a man who is a deaf mute gets ahold of an automatic shotgun and a .35 rifle and shoots up the NBLiqour headquarters building at 1am last night.
News reports are typically minimal but seeing that no one was there and no one got hurt, I have a thought and a question:
- I hope they string up who allowed access to their firearms to a deaf mute, who reports say is unable to understand the charges against him and may be mentally handicapped.
- will this effect OR delay the CFO issuing me my PAL?

I just had the same thing.my nr pal was approved Wednesday March 12 and I called today and they told me it was issued on March 17 .I just called back however ,and asked if it was mailed on the 17 or just printed ,as I heard that they only mail cards on Fridays. Which means it won't go out till tomorrow if that's the case. Otherwise it should be in the mailbox tomorrow. Hopefully :)

I'm hoping for tomorrow as well, but if they only mail Fridays I guess we have to wait some more. Still not too bad compared to some of the horror stories on here.

Called back in today about my status, it is still waiting on approval from the Alberta CFO, has been there for over two weeks now. The lady I talked to last week was very helpful, told me to call back in a week if it has not been issued and they will look into it for me. Talked to a guy today who didn't want to even look up my application, and when he did said it is still with the Alberta CFO pending approval and I will have to wait, they are experiencing a high volume of applicants blah blah, blah. Every person I have talked to up until this morning has been very helpful and great to talk to on the phone, this guy was like talking to a stick. Over two months now, seems like a year though.

Mailed in my info 64 weeks ago and RCMP still has not loaded anything into the system...called today and they informed me that its not un-common to take 6 weeks from date of mailing to be entered. :-(

Woohoo!!!! Congrats!!! I'm hoping when I check the mail after work I'll be doing the happy dance as well :)

Just got home from work myself, got some mail.. but nothing from RCMP :( it was issued online last friday, hopefully it will be in sometime early next week ! Ohh boy... Wait for the status to show up, then wait for the interviews, then wait for the actual paper, then wait for the transport permit.. good times ! :p

You're almost there! I agree though, once you decide to get into the sport, nothing happens fast enough. I called Al Flaherty's today to get the ball rolling on my ATT for a Buckmark pistol that I put a deposit on in early February. No I have to join a range... do the safety course... pass the probationary period... apply for LTATT so I can actually use it. Geez!

I hear ya ! That's why i "kept busy" during the time i was waiting.. my P226 .22LR was bought end of December (has been in the safe at the store since then), got my 9mm conversion kit for the P226 (has been in my closet since end of December), Did my security course at the range already, Bill 9 course (don't ask what it is, only in Quebec), and slowly got myself my muffs, case, cleaning kit and all the other small accessories, and last thursday i got 3 extra 22LR mags, and 4 extra 9mm mags (so i have 5 of each total), and TheAmmoStore had an amazing deal on 5600 .22LR ammo and only 1 left in store so i ordered that as well (now show zero, out of stock lol), paid in full but they need a copy of RPAL to actually ship it.. So as soon as i get the card, within the hour i'll : send a copy to the store so they ship my ammo, run to the range to complete my membership, once done run back to the store to process my transport permit and ship it ! and then ... wait again for 4-5 weeks ....

Good Idea to call CFO? I called CFC today and they said my application was in final stages and was with the CFO of Nova Scotia. Should I wait or should I call the CFO?

When i did that they got pissed lol .. they said : Sir you just called and we told you that everything was all right. They both use the same system and see each other's notes.
