Really? The end of cheap SKS's?

I see all the dealers started hype things up about those SKS, my local shop has plenty.
I m just not gonna join the panic buy. sorry.

Very true....our local Canadian Tire has all kinds of Soviet SKSs at 179 each ; and the gun counter manager told me that they are not exactly flying off the shelve........there does seem to be some panic buying in some parts of the country.....

In Winnipeg Nosalesports has some Laminate and hardwood, Heights archery sold out, I didn't see any at Cabelas when i was last week, The Canadian Tires that sell guns seem to have a supply, Also Wolverine had Norincos on for $175 or 3 for $150 each they appear out of stock.

I expect in another month SKS's Russian/Norinco will be hard to find existing stock will be sold out. EE prices will rise.

4-6 months a distributor will bring ina shipment and we shall see the $225-$250 SKS and still laugh at Americans paying 500s for used Norincos

4 years ago what were the prices? and what was available?

That's it, I see an opportunity for me to make some money. Anyone who needs a good condition para model can buy mine. $700.00 plus shipping and any taxes from New Zealand. Plus the buyer will have to take me moose hunting. Buy now or pay more later.

Where do you buy from in NZ? Just curious to see what you kiwis can buy?

For reference here some Kiwi prices http://www.guncity.com/7.62x39-xidg28312.html

I am really jealous of the gun suppressor combos

Hog wash, its all a supply and demand game. Wait it out, and you'll see, they'll magically find a few hundred thousand more
when the price has gone sufficiently high and sell a whole pile at that price before the market catches on.

Standard practice in business

Well if they go much above $200 for a basic sks, i would rather put my money into an svt-40 for a few dollars more! Not near as many of those made!
OH yea, and they are one ###y looking rifle!!

You do realize that they come from the same people supplying the sks. Mosin and SVT supply will likely be subject to the same export and supply issues out of the Ukraine.

Oh no Fenceline...Now you've done it! By mid week all the SVTs will sold out across Canada. :)

Haha. Not trying to stir the pot. Just figure that the supply is all out of the Ukraine and with that come the same issues. Even if the Molot mosins come direct from Russia, I can't see the sanctions hitting that source as well.

Sucks all around.

Guys; I know it's exciting to think that our beloved SKS's are going to suddenly become "special", but they are not. They are truly a dime a dozen. Even in the EXTREMELY unlikely scenario that the supply dries up, there are probably between 100,000 and 150,000 SKS's that have flooded our market. EE will have dozens for sale at any given time for years to come. Westrifle even said themselves that "the next shipment" (meaning there is a shipment) will go up in price. This is all standard marketing practice, and the retailers play this game very well. Retailers want to rid themselves of the dogs before the next shipment of nicer SKS's come. Kind of like ridding the market of 2013 cars to make way for the newer 2014's. If I were you, I would wait and see how this game plays out. If you want an SKS now, by all means buy one, there are hundreds, if not thousands, sitting on shelves or in crates across the country.

Lots here at Frontier, including various "investment packs" from 3 to 15 rifles:
http://frontierfirearms.ca/firearms/sks-rifles.html

Lots here on EE (Lefebvre's):
http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php/1016780-Russian-SKS-(Laminate-and-Hardwood)

and here on EE (weimajack):
http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/foru...-chinese-quot-sks-quot-rifles-(new-selection)

and here's a search using "SKS" and "WTS":
http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/search.php?searchid=8510894

and westrifle has 3 very nice 1949's, two of which are in correct arsenal fitted laminate stocks:
http://westrifle.com/wrstore/index....ath=20&zenid=24a62aa615308a9eb07c1a7bc5382d43

and Tradex has a number of hardwood and laminate refurbs, which tend to be MUCH nicer than expected:
http://www.tradeexcanada.com/content/russian-sks-semi-auto-rifle-762x39-laminated-stock

and CGN member "flamingchicken" always has nice SKS's on hand.

I'm sure there's much more to be found in some Crappy Tires, lebaron, Wholesale Sports, etc..

Guys, there are LOTS still available. Call around or look around on EE. There's no shortage. I'm sure there's another shipment coming in as westrifle indicated in another thread. Don't believe the hype.

Back to the top for those looking for SKS's.

Its not unreasonable to think that the supply will one day dry up. Lee Enfields used to be 25 bucks. I'm not suggesting panic purchases, but its probably a really good time to pick one up, or several is you like them.

Supply isn't going to dry up immediately, but it will eventually. And prices will go up.

Gotta go, I'm off to Eaton's to pick up a couple of $15 Lee Enfields and a few thousand rounds of surplus.

Edit: Fiddler sort of beat me to it.
