Dark Eagle Custom 10-round mag for Savage bolt action rifles

OK, I've taken the rivets out of all the remaining magazines (some customers elected to have their mags sent out right away with rivet).
Here's where I'm heading with these mags. Epoxy, sanded down, re-finished with best matching paint I could find. For those of you who asked to receive your magazine with rivet removed, this is what I'm planning to send you. It's not perfect, but it's a helluva lot better than it was on Thursday.

OK, the directive to pin magazines was borne out of a meeting among CFO, RCMP firearms lab and exporter. It was explained at the meeting that all centre-fire magazines being imported into Canada must be pinned to five (5) rounds. The exception is if there is a FRT number for a particular rifle/shotgun indicating that said firearm was registered in the FRTs with a magazine that may have more cartridges. In other words, if you want to import a 7 round bolt action magazine, and there are only FRT numbers associated with 5 and 10 round magazines, you're SOL according to the CFOs, RCMP and CBSA. How this relates to the Criminal Code, I can't say.

In other words, they are just making stuff up? Section 84 of the criminal code is pretty cut and dried about what's prohibited, and if it's not prohibited, it's legal. The FRT for magazines is just a beaurocratic overlay on the CC and has no bearing on what's legal. Under my simpleminded reading of section 84, a 15, 20, or 50 round magazine for a bolt gun would be legal.

Those look good to me - especially the one of the far right. Looking forward to receiving this :)

Well done, they look great!

Yeah, I know the one on the far right turned out best. The epoxy was just the right consistency for that one. I'll try and work super fast during that magic window with the next batch I fix up.

So what needs to be done to apply for an FRT for this 10 round mag so that the RCMP/CFO wont confiscate it at the range when they do a surprise inspection?

FRT are not issued for mags.
These mags are perfectly legal, just like the AIA, AI, Ruger, Mossberg (to name a few)10 rds for bolt action rifle.

But earlier in the thread, it was stated that the CFO, RCMP, CBP, and RCMP Firearms lab told the importer "that mags needed to be associated with an FRT"

Perhaps we need to import a rifle with the mag attached and get it an FRT?

Otherwise, it's possible that other LEOs may share and attempt to enforce this understanding of the Criminal Code.

Seems like BS. to me.

This is exactly why I asked about what can be done to get an FRT for a gun with this 10 round mag. Is it as simple as having Dark Eagle calling the RCMP to tell them that they have made a 10 round mag specifically for the savage 10 bolt action rifle?

Wow really? But these are made specifically for Savage bolt-action rifles, and won't fit in any other semi-auto rifles. Why is the RCMP forcing these to be pinned? Makes no sense legally.
