I use a Lee factory crimp die ($17 @ WSS North) on all my 300BLACK loads now. I used to use the seater die but the factory crimp seems to be more consistent and I don't ruin any more brass when I over do it.

Last time I was there they had 3 or 4 sets.
I never used to crimp but am finding that crimping does ensure reliable feeding. The Lee Factory Crimp Die is inexpensive and can be had in Calgary from Wholesale Sports.

Did some running around today and got everything to reload. I went with 175gr Nosler Custom Competition and loaded some test rounds between 15.7 and 16.7grn. I ordered an NEA upper from SFRC which should be here early next week. 50 rounds ready to go. Now I have 300 223 cases to cut down and size.

I bought a 6" chop saw from princess auto and use that to cut my brass. It leaves a messy cut which needs to be deburred before you run them through the die but it goes through them quickly.

I was looking at that exact saw actually. I think I'll be picking one up.
I'm tempted to load up some 220gr subsonic this week so I can see the difference. Hitting the range over the long weekend with a group of guys so I gotta show off the new toy. I don't have the upper yet and already having fun with this round. So many loading possibilities.

I think that the brass catchers from Tactical Brass Recovery are better though more expensive.
That's what he did, it just sucks to have to spend time chopping and trimming and sizing the brass only to lose it after a single shot.
I just bought a Universal Brass Catcher from E&L in Oregon. I got the 223 model and I think you should all check it out - outstanding!.
I ordered directly from them and received it 8 days later. I was so impressed that I ordered a 308 model and 2 extra sets of pins.
I can remove, empty and re-attach it faster than a mag change.

+1 for the 3BUCC catchers. Those damn little cases are like gold! Way too much work involved to go having to lose or chase them around.

That thing looks like the space shuttle of brass catchers. How easily can it be moved from rifle to rifle?

Two thoughts on this. Those pins look like they could be easily bent or broken and are very likely to be a pain in the something. A hard plastic bin will be extremely noisy as brass is thrown into it and pretty bulky at all other times.
