Addicted to reloading?

If there is a 12 step program for reloaders, I wouldn't be surprised if it went something like:
1) clean brass
2) resize and deprime

i love doing it but dont have enough time to do it to busy at work last fall m nephew shot 2 deer with my reloads so thats got me pumped up . i just bought my stuff this week for casting cant wait to get started on that oilman

loaded 300 rounds of 38 special tonight, and started working up some loads in the 7.5 Swiss, the addiction continues.

also set up a new single stage press a friend traded me for some brass, its a Lyman Orange Crusher, this press is a tank it makes me lee press feel like a toy. more solid works much better for resizing rifle cases, however I still use the lee for pistol cartridges as the shorter stroke and lighter parts makes for less effort when the brute force is not required. still looks cool to have 2 presses on my bench now:cool::dancingbanana:

You're gonna love casting bud. If you have a reasonably priced lead supply and enough of it you can make a whole whack load of bullets for significantly less $ than store bought bullets. What equipment are you getting? I'm all Lee so far but have a Lyman 22cal mold on the way that I'll be using to cast for my VZ 58 using WW alloy and baked on enamel paint for slickness and durability.

Hello my name is Rob and I too must confess that I am also an addict to reloading. Thank you for showing me I'm not alone. LOL. All kidding aside. Its a lot of fun. Started off with a Hornady single stage I bought from a buddy to "help save money on ammo" hah, I now just got a progressive and load for 5 different calibres and almost have as much invested in my reloading setup as I do in my guns. Bonus is I've now passed my obsession on to my 2 youngest sons (21 and 15) who now help with the reloading , that is when I share my toys hehehehe , cheers to all and happy loading

My name is Scott and I'm addicted to reloading.I currently load 12,16,20,28 and 410 shotgun shells. I also load 222 and 30-06 rifle. When I come home from skeet having shot 8 to 9 rounds. I start thinking about loading up for next week. Later that night ,I'm sorting hulls and loading.I'm always thinking of ways to save money. Always looking for supplies. My wife is telling about some boring crap and I'm thinking about a 5/8 0z 28 ga load.I enjoy reloading almost as much as shooting.

Does anyone know a way to smelt lead for casting if you live in an apartment? I also don't want to go to a friends house and make a bunch of lead fumes.

Yeah, I have a disdain for factory ammo too. Just last weekend I took 11 boxes of 30-06 factory ammo and pulled all the bullets and dumped the powder, just so I could load some more.

Yup was thinking of doing the same thing just to use the brass, keep the bullets for a rainy day and light the powder up on Canada day!

I bought a Ruger M77 in .30-06 a couple of years ago. It came with 7 boxes (each of 150gn Corelokts, 165gn, and 180gn). 4 were unopened, each weight had more than half remaining per box of the opened ones. I sighted in the 150s and used them to take my deer in 2011 (two actual rounds fired at game). I had 12 rounds left from 33. I pulled them, emptied the powder on the lawn, saved as new for work up. The next year, I used up the 180s, I had 25 of them and used 18 for sight in and practice. Two deer (one round each) and a moose (three rounds for her). Pulled the remaining two rounds, emptied the powder... Last year, I used the 165gn. I had 50 to start with. I only fired a dozen for sight in and practice due to time last year (I had decided to go back to my ATR, but broke my extractor the day before hunting started). I fired one round at a huge buck, not completely confident where ti was going to hit since it had been grouping at almost 2" but thefirst round was going basically where I wanted it to. So only body shots were to my liking. Still have enough to hunt this year and then they will all be gone and I can work up some rounds for me that work better.
I bought a new Savage 111 in '06 with the thumbhole stock 2 weeks ago. I have my work up rounds all set for it, as well as an additional 100 pieces of NEW brass already trimmed, uniformed, and primed waiting for the best load build. Hoping to shoot them this weekend but next week for sure while I am on leave. THEN...load up my hunting loads. Probably 150s since I still have a bunch of them and I will use this for deer and the Ruger for moose and elk until I am out of 180s.

Addicted ? ... nahhh, just a bad habit. I can quit any time I want. I have 6 or 7 times already !

Only been at it for 40 or so years ... hardly addicted. Maybe just a pleasurable vice ? Hmmm ;)

I'm very new to this addiction but I do find myself thinking about this a fair bit! Searching for components at work LOL. Still developing loads, but so much satisfaction pulling the trigger on something you made (and it goes bang not boom)! Just doing 9mm and 223 right now. Thinking I should get myself some 45 dies :)
I think I got into this at the wrong time as I cannot find powder anywhere (at least the kind I want) and it is frustrating me to no end. This also causes me to slow down on the reloading so that I don't run out of powder. If I could find the powder I want I would buy a tonne of it right now. Late to the game I guess. Hope that this situation changes soon.

I'm in the exact same boat! Only been at it for just under a year. LOVE it but finding components is hard. Try to buy as much as I can afford when I see powder I use. Doing fine for primers, bought thousands while I could find them. They seem easier to find now anyways. Bullets/cases, not too bad but powder...yar. I crunched the numbers as to how much powder I would need to load up 1000 .223 cartridges and realized it would take everything I had. And now the vendor that had tons of it is now sold out :( Always good to have a couple go to powders for a semi auto rifle.

Currently I'm reloadng for my AR15, .40 pistol, an Enfield and a Lever Action. The Enfield and Lever I don't shoot too much and naturaly, I have about 6 pounds of powder for them (IMR 4064 & 3031) but for my pistol and AR 15 I use Power Pistol and H335/IMR 8208XBR respectively and naturally, it's the H335 and PP that I can't find. Especially the PP, man I love that stuff.
