Like any stock proper bedding is essential. If the action is moving there is a good chance it will split eventually.
Wow. If I bought one it would be going on a .308, but Im not liking what I'm hearing.
I've used a Boyds Classic laminated stock on a 375magnum w/o any problems at all. Glass bedding helps prevent splitting issues.Im thinking about getting one. Has anyone had any problems with one? Splitting or otherwise? It would be a Boyds.
A 308 will not split one of these stock if properly bedded. A 458 is aw hole nuther apple vs orange.Wow. If I bought one it would be going on a .308, but Im not liking what I'm hearing.
Do you have a stock on your gun now??? Well, your new laminate stock from Boyd's will at least twice as strong. It is relatively rare for a laminate to split... the epoxy resin is far stronger than wood, and the thin sections of laminated wood are partially impregnated by the resin... this strengthens every thing. I have dozens of Boyd's stocks and have never had any problems... they have an excellent, durable product... far stronger than a single piece self stocks... but it's hard to beat a nicely figured chunk of walnut against rich bluing for looks... but to get it you will pay 5-10 times as much (or more).
