PAL Wait Time

I submitted for mine on April 12 and just checked yesterday it's been issued! First time PAL, Ontario

That's great. Congratulations (truly)!

Does the RCMP just pick random applications to review, ignoring when they were received? Mine still shows "Application Successfully Submitted", as it has since Mar. 28.

So when I checked on the application site it still says that as well. But I logged into individual web services (**Image and video linking functions will be enabled after you have contributed more to the forum**) and that shows that its been issued.

Oh thank you!

I just checked and mine says: "We have completed the initial review of your firearms licence application. If additional information is required, you will be contacted. Please check the status again at a later date." I guess I'll have to check back after the long weekend.

Getting ridiculous for me . Sent in my renewal before Christmas I had said yes to one of the questions and provided information that as I did on my prior application that was granted . Phoned the other day and was told they have all the information but it is still waiting to be reviewed . Sheeesh !

Lucky. You got approved in exactly 28 days.

For me:

Feb. 17 - CFSC
Mar. 25 - CFSC result arrived by mail (38 days)
Mar. 26 - PAL application submitted
Mar. 28 - All references signed, email recieved confirming application submitted for processing

Got a call from the Ontario Chief Firearms Office yesterday while in the car. She wanted to ask me a few questions but then we got cut off. I called back when I got home, and answered her queries (were just about my answers to one of the questions on the form). She then said it all looked good and she's be approving my application.

Today the site reports that it is approved and I should get it in the mail in the next 2 weeks.

That makes 57 days between filing my PAL application online and getting it approved.

NOTE 1: The call I recieved from the Ontario CFO was listed as a private number. So if you screen your calls, be aware. To call them back, call 1-800-731-4000, then press 1 in the first phone tree, 1 in the second, and then dial extension 7503 (Ontario).

NOTE 2: Since the link posted by someone else seems to have been removed, if you want to check the status of your application make sure to go here: https://www.services.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/chooser-eng.html

What province?

MB, renewal, no questions answered “yes” so it’s rather straightforward

This is message I get on my account:
We have completed the initial review of your firearms licence application. If additional information is required, you will be contacted. Please check the status again at a later date.

My license expires next month, should I be worried?

I applied pretty much exactly at 6months before expiration and it doesn’t seem like it did speed up anything :/

Thx for the replay bud
I'll do it year before just to be on the safe side
Cheers

Personal History section on the Renewal Form . Have you ever is along time . If you have encountered one of the prescribed situations how long do you need to keep answering YES if it applies . I’m thinking there should be a “ In the last so and so years “ would be more accurate
What do you fellas think ?

FWIW, I had a rather pleasant experience obtaining my PAL, despite some fears it might take a very long time or that my application even would be denied.

Overall, it took about 6 weeks (Ontario, online application). Started the application at the beginning of April. I had to use international references, because I landed in Canada (from Europe) late 2022 and obviously do not know any Canadian for longer than 3 years yet. But that seemed not to be a problem. They required a police clearance / certificate of conduct from back where I lived before, though.

Did you land to Canada as PR or TR?
