PAL Wait Time

Sweet. I hope you are enjoying the new hobby. Did you buy a firearm yet?
I Picked up an FX-9 to hopefully shoot a lot at my local indoor range. I wanted something with cheap ammo and a little bit more gun than a .22.

It arrives today, long day of work ahead!

Hello Folks, Anyone in the same boat. CFC office says that they mailed out my license on AUG-10-2024 but I havent recieved it yet. I am in BC. It's been 3 weeks. Should I be worried, or, is this normal for regular mail delivery time?

that's a bit long, but you might find that govt employees exaggerated what they've actually done.. Worst case, give them a call and let them know you're concerned about it potentially being "lost" in the mail.

Will they give me my PAL number over the phone while I wait for the actual card to be printed and mailed if I call them?

Toronto, Ontario. I’ve been waiting since June 20th when they received my application. I had a ‘personal history’ issue (charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking, charges were withdrawn at court. Cops admitted to lying on the stand and planting evidence). No criminal record.

Submitted detailed letter and references, tried to avoid any mention of police misconduct in my case (in the event any of the officers failed up to a CFO position lmao)

Still waiting and checking both portals. Emailed CFO was told ‘eligibility concern’ delays things 😔. Oh well, it’s worth a try.

I just helped my ol buddy renew his PAL last week. It was mailed in on Wednesday, Octember 22nd. For chits and giggles, I'll repost here when it arrives. Counting the days for curiosity sakes and comparisons. I'm in Hfx NS...if that has any bearing on it at all.

The latest feedback from applicants that I've heard of is 2 months for an initial PAL in Alberta
Submitted my PAL and RPAL application on July 14th. I have called every 3 weeks since September 1st. Both RCMP portals still showing Application submitted for Processing as of today.
Called Alberta CFO last week using the federal number and Alberta CFO extension (not the first time). Last week for the first time I got a hold of someone willing to look at the application instead of the simple "we have it and you need to wait.." response.

Apparently they were missing a signature from a reference. They called the reference and verified over the phone. The person on the phone said application is approved and off to print. Should take 4 weeks from last week - smh...

'Makes no sense...
My renewal took less than two weeks.
My daughters first time application submitted in October for a PAL/RPAL, same... two weeks.

'Others waiting months...

OH but you special.:)

'Must be...
Plus, I submitted six months ahead of time !
They had plenty if time to put me on the back burner and maybe work on clearing through files that have been sitting....

Again... 'makes no sense, but we are talking about a government operation. 'Not exactly a model of efficency.

Mine took about 2 months, but really a month because one of my references has really bad hand writing and they had to clarify his address.

I just checked on my PAL renewal application, which I submitted online Oct.10th... Says my application has been processed and licence has been issued... But it doesn't say the day it was issued... So, 5 weeks processing time is my guess...
